Correlation of E-cadherin expression with differentiation grade and histological type in breast carcinoma.
Carlos Gamallo,J Palacios,Asunción Suárez,A Pizarro,Pilar Navarro,Miguel Quintanilla,Amparo Cano +6 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that E-CD expression correlates with histological type and grade in breast carcinomas and positively with the degree of tubular formation and inversely with the mitoses number.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential Localization of VE- and N-Cadherins in Human Endothelial Cells: VE-Cadherin Competes with N-Cadherin for Junctional Localization
TL;DR: A chimeric construct formed by VE-cadherin extracellular region linked to N-cADherin intracellular domain lost the capacity to exclude N- cadher in from junctions indicating that the extrace cellular domain of VE -cadhersin alone is not sufficient for the preferential localization of the molecule at the junctions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Properties of Human Vascular Endothelial Cadherin (7B4/Cadherin-5), an Endothelium-Specific Cadherin
F. Breviario,L. Caveda,Monica Corada,Ines Martin-Padura,Pilar Navarro,Josée Golay,Martino Introna,D. Gulino,Maria Grazia Lampugnani,Elisabetta Dejana +9 more
TL;DR: VE-cadherin may exert a relevant role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions through controlled aggregation and cell-to-cell adhesion.
Journal ArticleDOI
A role for the E-cadherin cell-cell adhesion molecule during tumor progression of mouse epidermal carcinogenesis
TL;DR: A role for E-cadherin in the progression to malignancy of mouse epidermal carcinogenesis is suggested and it is suggested that the loss of both E- and P-cADherin could be associated to the final stage of carcinogenesis, the development of spindle cell carcinomas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Catenin-dependent and -independent functions of vascular endothelial cadherin
Pilar Navarro,L. Caveda,Ferruccio Breviario,Ileana Mândoteanu,Maria Grazia Lampugnani,Elisabetta Dejana,Elisabetta Dejana +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the VE-cadherin extracellular domain is enough for early steps of cell adhesion and recognition, however, interaction of VE -cadhersin with the cytoskeleton is necessary to provide strength and cohesion to the junction.
