Abstract: A search for the production of a pair of top squarks at the LHC is presented. This search targets a region of parameter space where the kinematics of top squark pair production and top quark pair production are very similar, because of the mass difference between the top squark and the neutralino being close to the top quark mass. The search is performed with 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV, collected by the CMS detector in 2016, using events containing one electron-muon pair with opposite charge. The search is based on a precise estimate of the top quark pair background, and the use of the M-T2 variable, which combines the transverse mass of each lepton and the missing transverse momentum. No excess of events is found over the standard model predictions. Exclusion limits are placed at 95% confidence level on the production of top squarks up to masses of 208 GeV for models with a mass difference between the top squark and the lightest neutralino close to that of the top quark.

Abstract: Using 383 million B{bar B} pairs from the BABAR data sample, they report results for branching fractions of six charged B-meson decay modes, where a charged kaon recoils against a charmless resonance decaying to K{bar K}* or {eta}{pi}{pi} final states with mass in the range (1.2-1.8) GeV/c{sup 2}. They observe a significant enhancement at the low K{bar K}* invariant mass which is interpreted as B{sup +} {yields} {eta}(1475)K{sup +}, find evidence for the decay B{sup +} {yields} {eta}(1295)K{sup +}, and place upper limits on the decays B{sup +} {yields} {eta}(1405)K{sup +}, B{sup +} {yields} f{sub 1}(1285)K{sup +}, B{sup +} {yields} f{sub 1}(1420)K{sup +}, and B{sup +} {yields} {phi}(1680)K{sup +}.

Abstract: Designing of heterogeneous wireless environment involves several internetworking issues, such as seamless handoff or roaming, mobility management, security and accounting problem etc. One of the major issues in next- generation heterogeneous networks is the issue of vertical handoff for guaranteeing service continuity and quality of service. This paper reports on the design and implementation of multi-criteria vertical handoff decision algorithms in heterogeneous wireless environment. A neural network model has been used to process multi-criteria vertical handoff decision metrics.

Abstract: The nuclear modification factors of J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are measured in PbPb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √ sNN = 5.02 TeV. The analysis is based on PbPb and pp data samples collected by CMS at the LHC in 2015, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 464 μb−1 and 28 pb−1, respectively. The measurements are performed in the |y| < 2.4 rapidity range as a function of centrality, rapidity and transverse momentum (pT), from pT = 3 GeV/c in the most forward region and up to pT = 50 GeV/c. Both prompt J/ψ and nonprompt J/ψ (coming from b-hadron decays) are observed to be gradually suppressed with centrality, with a magnitude similar to the one observed at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV. No dependence on rapidity is observed, while prompt and nonprompt J/ψ are less suppressed at the lower and higher explored pT. The prompt ψ(2S) is found to be more suppressed than the prompt J/ψ in the entire pT range.

Abstract: We report the measurement of the baryonic B decay B- -> SigmaC++ p- pi- pi-. Using a data sample of 467*10^6 B B-bar pairs collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II storage ring at SLAC, the measured branching fraction is (2.98 +/- 0.16 (stat) +/- 0.15 (syst) +/- 0.77 (LambdaC+))*10^{-4}, where the last error is due to the uncertainty in the branching fraction of the decay LambdaC+ -> p+ K- pi+. The data suggest the existence of resonant subchannels B- -> LambdaC(2595)+ p- pi- and, possibly, B- -> SigmaC++ anti-Delta-- pi-. We see unexplained structures in m(SigmaC++ pi- pi-) at 3.25 GeV/c^2, 3.8 GeV/c^2, and 4.2 GeV/c^2.

Abstract: Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones.
