A global network for investigating the genomic epidemiology of malaria.

Eric A. Achidi, +112 more
- 11 Dec 2008 -
TL;DR: The Malaria Genomic Epidemiology Network (MalariaGEN) as discussed by the authors is a consortial approach that brings together researchers from 21 countries to conduct large-scale studies of genomic variation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Possible Protective Role for C-Reactive Protein in Atherogenesis Complement Activation by Modified Lipoproteins Halts Before Detrimental Terminal Sequence

TL;DR: Binding of CRP to E-LDL is the first trigger for complement activation in the atherosclerotic lesion, but the terminal sequence is thereby spared, so that potentially harmful C5b-9 complexes are generated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of New Protein Interactions between Dengue Fever Virus and Its Hosts, Human and Mosquito

TL;DR: High-throughput yeast two-hybrid screening is used to identify mosquito and human proteins that physically interact with dengue proteins and identified a subset of the host-dengue interactions that are now supported by multiple forms of evidence, which should be useful for understanding the interplay between d Dengue and its hosts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enzymatic modification of low-density lipoprotein in the arterial wall: a new role for plasmin and matrix metalloproteinases in atherogenesis.

TL;DR: Functionally interactive proteases of the plasminogen/plasmin and the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) system degrade and reorganize the extracellular matrix of the vessel wall in atherosclerosis may also be involved in lipoprotein modification during genesis and progression of atherosclerotic lesions.
