Journal ArticleDOI

Structure elucidation of a bioactive polysaccharide from fruiting bodies of Hericium erinaceus in different maturation stages.

TL;DR: HPB-3, a heteropolysaccharide, was obtained from the maturating-stage IV, V and VI fruiting body of Hericium erinaceus, exhibited higher macrophages stimulation activities, was able to upregulate the functional events mediated by activated macrophage, such as production of nitric oxide (NO).
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural elucidation and immunomodulatory activity of a β-D-glucan prepared by freeze-thawing from Hericium erinaceus.

TL;DR: The present study indicated that the macromolecular β-glucan H6PC20 possessed potent immune-enhancing bioactivities and could be a potential ingredient for healthy food or medicine development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical Compositions and Macrophage Activation of Polysaccharides from Leon's Mane Culinary-Medicinal Mushroom Hericium erinaceus (Higher Basidiomycetes) in Different Maturation Stages.

TL;DR: Immunostimulating tests revealed that the polysaccharide fraction HP6 isolated from the mature stage (stage VI) fruiting body presented higher macrophage activation activity, providing important information for the harvest and use of H. erinaceus with higher qualities and functional benefits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pre-protective effect of polysaccharides purified from Hericium erinaceus against ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats.

TL;DR: Results indicated that H6PC20 and HPB-3 presented gastroprotective activities with the mechanism of activating repair and defense system, decreasing the inflammatory response and alleviating the oxidative injury.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Atmospheric and Room Temperature Plasma (ARTP) Mutagenesis on Physicochemical Characteristics and Immune Activity In Vitro of Hericium erinaceus Polysaccharides.

TL;DR: The results indicated that ARTP is an efficient and practical method for high polysaccharide content breeding of the H. erinaceus strain and this provided a reference for obtaining high quality resources and healthy product development from H. eraseus.
