Journal ArticleDOI

A gait analysis data collection and reduction technique

TL;DR: The gait analysis laboratory provides quantified assessments of human locomotion which assist in the orthopaedic management of various pediatric gait pathologies by utilizing a video-based data collection strategy similar to commercially available systems for motion data collection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gait characterization via dynamic joint stiffness

TL;DR: Dynamic joint stiffness (the slope of joint angle-moment plot) is defined as the resistance that the muscles and other soft tissue structures that cross a joint offer during gait in response to an applied moment and its potential clinical utility in pathological gait is explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using surface electrodes for the evaluation of the rectus femoris, vastus medialis and vastus lateralis muscles in children with cerebral palsy

TL;DR: Muscle activation patterns during gait showed that the RF and not the VM or VL was active in mid-swing in the majority of cases, indicating surface EMG is sufficient for testing RF, VM and VL function in children.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of bilateral femoral derotation osteotomies on gait in children with cerebral palsy

TL;DR: Examples are presented which demonstrate that small errors in measuring the heart rate difference will make a large difference to the value of the PC1 at the slow walking speeds often seen in children with cerebral palsy, and changes in PC1 of 0.1 or less should be discounted.
