Stabilities of the cyanide complexes of the monovalent group IB metal ions in aqueous solution

TL;DR: In this article, the stability constants for the cyanide complexes of Cu(I, Ag(I), and Au(I) in aqueous solution were determined, and the E0 for Au(CN)2− was found to be −0·50V, which was combined with a previous estimate of the Au+(aq)/Au(s) standard reduction potential (+1·668V) to give log β2 = 36·6.
Journal ArticleDOI

A linear free-energy relation involving the formation constants of palladium(II) and platinum(II)

TL;DR: In this article, the standard reduction potential of Pd(II) and Ag(I) aquo-ion was derived using a linear free energy relation (LFER) and the results of these studies combined with published data were used for the drawing up of a LFER involving these standard reduction terms, such that EPt(2)0 = 1.24 EPd(III)0 −19 mV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Linear free energy relationships in aqueous complex-formation reactions of the d10 metal ions☆

TL;DR: Linear free energy relationships for complex-formation of the d10 electronic configuration metal ions with the free energy changes expressed as standard reduction potentials have been shown in this article, where two separate linear relationships result when E0 values for the formation of either Hg(II) or Cd(II), compared with those for Ag(I).
