The area of computer science and electronics have merged into one of the most notable technologies called the internet of things (IoT). A wide range of applications offered by IoT, including smart agricultural, smart transportation, smart home, and healthcare. In recent times, the market for IoT in healthcare service has increased exponentially. At the same time, security issues in the system also increase this situation threatening the health and safety of patients. Medical device usage in the hospital like Implantable Medical Devices, Radio Frequency Identification tags, and wearable devices are prone to a severe security vulnerability. This scenario is emphasizing the importance of providing privacy and confidentiality of a patient’s medical information. Therefore, this paper attempts to review security issues present on the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). Also, this work reviews the solution of various security issues presented in the exiting works. Accordingly, the review revealed that the solution of device-level security issues is desirable. At the same time, moderate level focus only happened in communication level security. In this work, various security issues presented in IoMTs analyzed and different risk factors of security attacks on IoMTs identified. The empirical result shows DDoS in IoMTs dangerous compare with other security issues with 95.00% risk factor and authentication issue in wireless insulin pump 55.00% risk factor. The proposed risk assessment helps to identify the highest impact, causing security attacks in various IoMTs.

Review of security challenges in healthcare internet of things

An increased adoption of mobile health (mHealth) and ubiquitous health (uHealth) systems empower users with handheld devices and embedded sensors for a broad range of healthcare services However, m/uHealth systems face significant challenges related to data security and privacy that must be addressed to increase the pervasiveness of such systems This study aims to systematically identify, classify, compare, and evaluate state-of-the-art on security and privacy of m/uHealth systems We conducted a systematic mapping study (SMS) based on 365 qualitatively selected studies to (i) classify the types, frequency, and demography of published research, (ii) synthesize and categorize research themes, (iii) recurring challenges, (iv) prominent solutions (ie, research outcomes) and their (v) reported evaluations (ie, practical validations) Results suggest that the existing research on security and privacy of m/uHealth systems primarily focuses on select group of control families (compliant with NIST800-53), protection of systems and information, access control, authentication, individual participation, and privacy authorisation In contrast, areas of data governance, security and privacy policies, and program management are under-represented, although these are critical to most of the organizations that employ m/uHealth systems Most research proposes new solutions with limited validation, reflecting a lack of evaluation of security and privacy of m/uHealth in the real world Empirical research, development, and validation of m/uHealth security and privacy is still incipient, which may discourage practitioners from readily adopting solutions from the literature This SMS facilitates knowledge transfer, enabling researchers and practitioners to engineer security and privacy for emerging and next generation of m/uHealth systems

Smart watches: A review of evolution in bio-medical sector

The internet of things (IoT) has cleared the door for sophisticated functionalities to be introduced into the healthcare business. IoT systems handle a significant amount of data and require 6G network connectivity, power, and storage to convert it into useful information. The internet of medical things refers to the use of IoT-based internet-enabled medical devices in the healthcare business (IoMT). The lack of security standardization and energy-consuming cryptographic algorithms in man-in-the-middle attacks, session hijacking, and wireless encryption breaking are all possible security problems with IoMT. On the other hand, because of its decentralised nature, blockchain may be used to address IoT problems. The widespread adoption of decentralised blockchain technology in IoT has significantly reduced the danger of sensitive healthcare data being exposed. The authors combine blockchain technology with IoMT (B-IoMT) in this chapter to enable secure data transfer over a 6G network connection. The blockchain's security characteristics aid in achieving tamper-proof data transfer in IoMT.
