Journal ArticleDOI

Obesity leads to higher risk of sperm DNA damage in infertile patients

TL;DR: Using the terminal uridine nick-end labelling (TUNEL) assay, an increased rate of sperm DNA damage in obese men is observed, and the relationship between sperm DNA integrity and BMI is explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of cryopreservation on the meiotic spindle of human oocytes.

TL;DR: Fundamental studies in humans, showing good preservation of cell structures after freeze-thaw procedures opened the way to new successful clinical trials with embryos derived from cryopreserved mature oocytes, demonstrating at least the feasibility of this technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sperm parameters and male fertility after bariatric surgery: three case series.

TL;DR: Intacytoplasmic sperm injection with fresh spermatozoa after male bariatric surgery can be successful, as demonstrated here, where clinical pregnancies were obtained for two out of the three couples and the alterations of spermatogenesis were reversible 2 years after the surgical procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Obesity and Increased Risk for Oligozoospermia and Azoospermia

TL;DR: In this article, the level of evidence on the association between body mass index (BMI) and sperm count through a systematic review and meta-analysis was updated. But, the relationship between BMI and sperm parameters remains controversial.
