TL;DR: In this paper, the authors observed φ production in π − p interactions at 19 GeV/c with (44±10) events in the final state φπ + π−π−π −π−p and (45±9) events with φ K + K − π+π−P −p.

TL;DR: A search for charmed particles produced in π−p exclusive reactions at 19 GeV/c incident beam momentum has been carried out with the Omega spectrometer at CERN as discussed by the authors.
