Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic evidence for a tumor suppressor role of HIF-2α
Till Acker,Antonio Diez-Juan,Julián Aragonés,Marc Tjwa,Koenraad Brusselmans,Lieve Moons,Dai Fukumura,Maria Paz Moreno-Murciano,Jean-Marc Herbert,Angelika M. Burger,Johanna Riedel,Gerd Elvert,Ingo Flamme,Patrick H. Maxwell,Desire Collen,Mieke Dewerchin,Rakesh K. Jain,Karl H. Plate,Peter Carmeliet +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that overexpression of HIF-2alpha in rat glioma tumors enhances angiogenesis but reduces growth of these tumors, in part by increasing tumor cell apoptosis.
Journal Article
Interstitial hypertension in carcinoma of uterine cervix in patients: possible correlation with tumor oxygenation and radiation response.
TL;DR: Results show for the first time that the IFP in human cervical carcinomas is elevated, and that it can be lowered in some tumors using fractionated radiation therapy, and suggest that IFP values may provide an indication of tumor oxygenation and that I FP modifications could be prognostic indicators of radiation response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increase in tumor-associated macrophages after antiangiogenic therapy is associated with poor survival among patients with recurrent glioblastoma.
Christine Lu-Emerson,Matija Snuderl,Nathaniel D. Kirkpatrick,Jermaine Goveia,Christian Davidson,Yuhui Huang,Lars Riedemann,Jennie Taylor,Percy Ivy,Dan G. Duda,Marek Ancukiewicz,Scott R. Plotkin,Andrew S. Chi,Elizabeth R. Gerstner,April F. Eichler,Jorg Dietrich,Anat Stemmer-Rachamimov,Tracy T. Batchelor,Rakesh K. Jain +18 more
TL;DR: Recurrent glioblastomas showed an increased infiltration in myeloid populations in the tumor bulk and in the infiltrative regions after antiangiogenic therapy, and higher numbers of CD11b+ cells correlated with poor survival among these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Current Landscape of Immune Checkpoint Blockade in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Review.
TL;DR: This review summarizes rapidly emerging clinical data on the promise and challenges of implementing ICBs in HCC and discusses the unmet need of biomarkers to predict response or resistance to therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
InAs(ZnCdS) quantum dots optimized for biological imaging in the near-infrared.
Peter M. Allen,Wenhao Liu,Vikash P. Chauhan,Jungmin Lee,Alice Y. Ting,Dai Fukumura,Rakesh K. Jain,Moungi G. Bawendi +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated how NIR QDs can image tumor vasculature in vivo at significantly deeper penetration depths and with higher contrast than visible emitting CdSe(CdS) QDs.
