It is underlined that while mental health in Brazil was marked by the Psychiatric Reform, guided by italian model, in Portugal mental health is following the reference of Sector Psychiatry. There were four semi-structured interviews with professionals and Portuguese patiente relatives. The text concludes with the statement that in Portugal the Sector Psychiatric has not yet reached its full proposition of community care.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the passage from a specific mode of existence of music, as a therapeutic practice within mental health, towards a different mode, that of artistic co-creation.
Abstract: This article takes as its entry point artistic/creative practices emerging from the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform and, in particular, the constitution of music groups composed of mental healthcare service users/patients (and their therapists) involved in music therapy. This process led to their transformation into musicians/artists, recognized for their musical performances, assessed by current standards associated with relevant music genres. The article explores the passage from a specific mode of existence of music, as a therapeutic practice within mental health, towards a different mode, that of artistic co-creation. It is intended as a contribution to the study of processes of esthetic co-creation, setting up a space of dialogue

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue for the need to ground investigation on concrete historical forms of social suffering, such as individual suffering and illness experienced in social interactions, institutionalised expert translations of suffering into disease, and political rationales, developed by both local and global stakeholders, which assist in the creation of social environments of health and illness.
Abstract: This article analyses some of the emerging problems in the field of social studies at the juncture of the domains of health and science. Building on critical perspectives, namely those hailing from social history, postcolonial studies and collaborative research, it argues for the need to ground investigation on concrete historical forms of social suffering. This implies a multi-scale approach which considers: 1) individual suffering and illness experienced in social interactions; 2) the institutionalised expert translations of suffering into disease; and 3) the political rationales, developed by both local and global stakeholders, which assist in the creation of social environments of health and illness. While illustrations of the theoretical proposals derive mostly from the particular field of mental health, it is argued that their implications may apply to a wider range of themes dealing with health and science issues.

TL;DR: In this paper, a revisao integrativa de literatura is used to analyze the conceitos de sujeito e coletivo presentes em publicacoes de musicoterapia that adotam perspectivas sociais e comunitarias in America Latina.

TL;DR: According to the Aurelio dictionary, Psychology is part of Philosophy that deals with the soul, its manifestations and psychic phenomena as mentioned in this paper. But it is also a discipline that takes care of people's social and behavioral aspects.
Abstract: According to the Aurelio dictionary, Psychology is part of Philosophy that deals with the soul, its manifestations and psychic phenomena. Psychiatry is presented by him as the doctrine of mental illness and its treatment. Psychology takes care of people's social and behavioral aspects. Psychiatry takes care of the physiological and chemical aspects involving the human brain. In In the seas at the end of the world (1959) and O Lugre (1959), Bernardo Santareno, a psychologist, is concerned with discovering the causes of the problems suffered by seafarers, using social, philosophical and behavioral knowledge as the main tool. Here, the individual is analyzed in the context in which he lives, with the author proposing to identify and treat psychological and behavioral changes through conversational techniques, in addition to helping to prevent them. In turn, in relation to these same works, Santareno, a psychiatrist, evaluates and treats psychological problems focusing on the organic part, through the physiological and chemical evaluation of the brain. In practice, his psychiatric concern is primarily concerned with reducing the symptoms caused by the isolation and social distance of man at sea. In 1957 and 1959, Bernardo Santareno, embarking as an on-board doctor in the Portuguese cod fleet (David Melgueiro, Senhora do Mar and Gil Eannes) who headed every year to Terra Nova and Greenland, drew up small narrative pictures that highlighted the element human surrounded by the most austere nature. Between poetic language, reflection and narrative, he used observations to narrate and narrations to deal with the maritime and life trajectory in which his characters discovered themselves real and inwardly. In turn, taking them to the stage, he unveiled the propaganda of an economic nature of the Estado Novo, reproduced in its social order.
