Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of the effects of mibefradil and atenolol on regression of left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertensive patients.
Christer Höglund,Renata Cifkova,Albert Mimran,József Tenczer,Andrew Watt,Martin R. Wilkins,Elisabeth Lindberg +6 more
TL;DR: The reductions in LV hypertrophy and blood pressure achieved with mibefradil were larger but statistically equivalent to those with atenolol, but a lower overall incidence of treatment-related adverse events was seen in the mibfradil-treated patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
A high ankle-brachial index is associated with increased aortic pulse wave velocity: the Czech post-MONICA study
Peter Wohlfahrt,D. Palous,M. Ingrischova,Alena Krajčoviechová,Jitka Seidlerová,M. Galovcova,Jan Bruthans,M. Jozifova,Věra Adámková,Jan Filipovský,Renata Cifkova +10 more
TL;DR: This is the first study showing increased aortic stiffness in individuals with high ABI, presumably responsible for increased left ventricular mass described previously in this group, and these findings suggest increased cardiovascular risk of high A BI individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polygenic risk scores predict diabetes complications and their response to intensive blood pressure and glucose control.
Johanne Tremblay,Mounsif Haloui,Redha Attaoua,Ramzan Tahir,Camil Hishmih,Francois Harvey,Francois-Christophe Marois-Blanchet,Carole Long,Paul Simon,Lara Santucci,Candan Hizel,John Chalmers,Michel Marre,Stephen Harrap,Renata Cifkova,Alena Krajčoviechová,David R. Matthews,Bryan Williams,Neil R Poulter,Sophia Zoungas,Stephen Colagiuri,Giuseppe Mancia,Diederick E. Grobbee,Anthony Rodgers,Liusheng Liu,Mawusse Agbessi,Vanessa Bruat,Marie-Julie Favé,Michelle P Harwood,Philip Awadalla,Philip Awadalla,Mark Woodward,Mark Woodward,Julie Hussin,Julie Hussin,Pavel Hamet +35 more
TL;DR: This article developed a multi-polygenic risk score (multiPRS) that combines ten weighted PRSs composed of 598 SNPs associated with main risk factors and outcomes of type 2 diabetes, derived from summary statistics data of genome-wide association studies.
Journal Article
European Guidelines on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in the Clinical Practice. Third work group of the european societies and other societies on cardiovascular disease prevention in the clinical practice
G. De Backer,E. Ambrosioni,K. Borch-Johnsen,C Brotons,Renata Cifkova,Jean Dallongeville,Shah Ebrahim,O. Faergeman,Ian D. Graham,G. Mancia,V. Manger Cats,Kristina Orth-Gomér,Joep Perk,Kalevi Pyörälä,Jose L. Rodicio,Susana Sans,Vedat Sansoy,Udo Sechtem,Sigmund Silber,T. Thomsen,David A. Wood +20 more
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of advanced glycation end products in vascular aging: which parameter is the most suitable as a biomarker?
Otto Mayer,Julius Gelžinský,Jitka Seidlerová,Markéta Mateřánková,Štěpán Mareš,Veronika Svobodová,Ladislav Trefil,Renata Cifkova,Jan Filipovský +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that skin AGEs/sRAGE ratio seems to be a more sensitive biomarker of vascular aging than these single factors themselves or circulation status of A GEs.
