Healy,Diana Zelenika,Anne Boland,Marc Delepine,Mario Foglio,Doris Lechner,Fumihiko Matsuda,Hélène Blanché,Ivo Gut,Simon Heath,Mark Lathrop,Paul Brennan +64 more
TL;DR: The results provide compelling evidence of a locus at 15q25 predisposing to lung cancer, and reinforce interest in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors as potential disease candidates and chemopreventative targets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human papillomavirus and oral cancer: the International Agency for Research on Cancer multicenter study.
Rolando Herrero,Xavier Castellsagué,Michael Pawlita,Jolanta Lissowska,Frank Kee,Prabda Balaram,Thangarajan Rajkumar,Sridhar H,Barbara Rose,Javier Pintos,Leticia Fernandez,A.M. Viscidi,Nubia Muñoz,Silvia Franceschi +22 more
TL;DR: HPV appears to play an etiologic role in many cancers of the oropharynx and possibly a small subgroup of cancers of The most common HPV type in genital cancers (HPV16) was also the most common in these tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dermoscopy of pigmented skin lesions: results of a consensus meeting via the Internet
Giuseppe Argenziano,H. Peter Soyer,Sergio Chimenti,Renato Talamini,Rosamaria Corona,Francesco Sera,Michael Binder,Lorenzo Cerroni,Gaetano De Rosa,Gerardo Ferrara,Rainer Hofmann-Wellenhof,Michael Landthaler,Scott W. Wolf,Otto Braun-Falco,Helmut Kerl,Takeji Nishikawa,Klaus Wolff,Alfred W. Kopf +56 more
TL;DR: The virtual Consensus Net Meeting on Dermoscopy represents a valid tool for better standardization of the dermoscopic terminology and, moreover, opens up a new territory for diagnosing and managing pigmented skin lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mia Hashibe,Paul Brennan,Shu Chun Chuang,Stefania Boccia,Xavier Castellsagué,Chu Chen,Maria Paula Curado,Luigino Dal Maso,Alexander W. Daudt,Eleonora Fabianova,Leticia Fernandez,Victor Wünsch-Filho,Silvia Franceschi,Richard B. Hayes,Rolando Herrero,Karl T. Kelsey,Karl T. Winn,Oxana Shangina,Agnieszka Pilarska,Zuo-Feng Zhang,Gilles Ferro,Julien Berthiller,Paolo Boffetta +43 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that the joint effect between tobacco and alcohol use is greater than multiplicative on head and neck cancer risk, however, a substantial proportion of head and head cancers cannot be attributed to tobacco or alcohol use, particularly for oral cavity cancer and for head andneck cancer among women and among young-onset cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alcohol Drinking in Never Users of Tobacco, Cigarette Smoking in Never Drinkers, and the Risk of Head and Neck Cancer: Pooled Analysis in the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology Consortium
Mia Hashibe,Paul Brennan,Simone Benhamou,Xavier Castellsagué,Chu Chen,Maria Paula Curado,Luigino Dal Maso,Alexander W. Daudt,Eleonora Fabianova,Victor Wünsch-Filho,Silvia Franceschi,Richard B. Winn,David Zaridze,Witold Zatonski,Zuo-Feng Zhang,Julien Berthiller,Paolo Boffetta +35 more
TL;DR: The results represent the most precise estimates available of the independent association of each of the two main risk factors of head and neck cancer, and they exemplify the strengths of large-scale consortia in cancer epidemiology.
