MicroRNAs in Taenia solium Neurocysticercosis: Insights as Promising Agents in Host-Parasite Interaction and Their Potential as Biomarkers

TL;DR: The potential roles of miRNAs in T. solium infection, including regulation of host-parasite relationships and their eventual use as diagnostic or disease biomarkers are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of a Novel Protocol Based on Blood Clot to Improve the Sensitivity of qPCR Detection of Toxoplasma gondii in Peripheral Blood Specimens

TL;DR: A comparative analysis with samples from HIV patients with clinical suspicion of toxoplasmosis was performed, demonstrating the detection of four positive suspected cases with clots compared with only one using guanidine-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid blood, which supports this methodology as a good laboratory tool to monitor parasite burden.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Plasmodium falciparum MSP10 and its development as a serological tool for the Peruvian Amazon region.

TL;DR: The rMSP 10 and the PfMSP10-2 peptide synthesized for this study may be useful antigens for evaluation of P. falciparum malaria exposure in Sym and Asym individuals from the Peruvian Amazon region and can be used for further investigation of the role of this protein in other malaria-endemic areas.
Posted ContentDOI

Clinical validation of RCSMS: a rapid and sensitive CRISPR-Cas12a test for the molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 from saliva

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the performance of RCSMS, a locally adapted variant of DETECTR, to ascertain the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in saliva samples from 276 patients in two hospitals in Peru (current status over a total of 350 samples).
Posted ContentDOI

Identification and validation of reference genes for RT-qPCR single-gene relative expression analysis in Taenia solium pre-adult stages

TL;DR: This study is the first attempt in finding reliable normalization standards for transcript exploration in genus Taenia by analyzing the expression stability of 17 candidate RGs on the context of the early-adult stages of T. solium classified as non-evaginated and evaginated larvae (cysts).
