TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proved mirror symmetry for supersymmetric sigma models on Calabi-Yau manifolds in 1+1 dimensions and showed that the equivalence of the gauged linear sigma model embedded in a theory with an enlarged gauge symmetry, with a Landau-Ginzburg theory of Toda type Standard R -> 1/R duality and dynamical generation of superpotential by vortices.
Abstract: We prove mirror symmetry for supersymmetric sigma models on Kahler manifolds in 1+1 dimensions The proof involves establishing the equivalence of the gauged linear sigma model, embedded in a theory with an enlarged gauge symmetry, with a Landau-Ginzburg theory of Toda type Standard R -> 1/R duality and dynamical generation of superpotential by vortices are crucial in the derivation This provides not only a proof of mirror symmetry in the case of (local and global) Calabi-Yau manifolds, but also for sigma models on manifolds with positive first Chern class, including deformations of the action by holomorphic isometries

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors give a construction of braid group actions on coherent sheaves on a variety of manifolds and show that these actions are always faithful when the manifold is smooth.
Abstract: This paper gives a construction of braid group actions on the derived category of coherent sheaves on a variety $X$. The motivation for this is M. Kontsevich's homological mirror conjecture, together with the occurrence of certain braid group actions in symplectic geometry. One of the main results is that when dim $X\geq 2$, our braid group actions are always faithful. We describe conjectural mirror symmetries between smoothings and resolutions of singularities which lead us to find examples of braid group actions arising from crepant resolutions of various singularities. Relations with the McKay correspondence and with exceptional sheaves on Fano manifolds are given. Moreover, the case of an elliptic curve is worked out in some detail.

TL;DR: In this paper, the deformation theory necessary to obtain virtual moduli cycles of stable sheaves whose higher obstruction groups vanish has been developed, and the moduli spaces of sheaves on a general $K3$ fibration have been computed.
Abstract: We briefly review the formal picture in which a Calabi-Yau $n$-fold is the complex analogue of an oriented real $n$-manifold, and a Fano with a fixed smooth anticanonical divisor is the analogue of a manifold with boundary, motivating a holomorphic Casson invariant counting bundles on a Calabi-Yau 3-fold. We develop the deformation theory necessary to obtain the virtual moduli cycles of \cite{LT}, \cite{BF} in moduli spaces of stable sheaves whose higher obstruction groups vanish. This gives, for instance, virtual moduli cycles in Hilbert schemes of curves in $\Pee^3$, and Donaldson-- and Gromov-Witten-- like invariants of Fano 3-folds. It also allows us to define the holomorphic Casson invariant of a Calabi-Yau 3-fold $X$, prove it is deformation invariant, and compute it explicitly in some examples. Then we calculate moduli spaces of sheaves on a general $K3$ fibration $X$, enabling us to compute the invariant for some ranks and Chern classes, and equate it to Gromov-Witten invariants of the ``Mukai-dual'' 3-fold for others. As an example the invariant is shown to distinguish Gross' diffeomorphic 3-folds. Finally the Mukai-dual 3-fold is shown to be Calabi-Yau and its cohomology is related to that of $X$.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Hilbert-Mumford criterion for different notions of stability for polarised algebraic varieties was studied, in particular for K-and Chow stability, leading to a concept of slope for varieties and their subschemes.
Abstract: We make a systematic study of the Hilbert-Mumford criterion for different notions of stability for polarised algebraic varieties $(X,L)$; in particular for K- and Chow stability. For each type of stability this leads to a concept of slope $\mu$ for varieties and their subschemes; if $(X,L)$ is semistable then $\mu(Z)\le\mu(X)$ for all $Z\subset X$. We give examples such as curves, canonical models and Calabi-Yaus. We prove various foundational technical results towards understanding the converse, leading to partial results; in particular this gives a geometric (rather than combinatorial) proof of the stability of smooth curves.

TL;DR: In this paper, Fourier transform the scattering amplitudes from momentum space to twistor space, and argue that the transformed amplitudes are supported on certain holomorphic curves, which is a consequence of an equivalence between the perturbative expansion of = 4 super Yang-Mills theory and the D-instanton expansion of a certain string theory.
Abstract: Perturbative scattering amplitudes in Yang-Mills theory have many unexpected properties, such as holomorphy of the maximally helicity violating amplitudes. To interpret these results, we Fourier transform the scattering amplitudes from momentum space to twistor space, and argue that the transformed amplitudes are supported on certain holomorphic curves. This in turn is apparently a consequence of an equivalence between the perturbative expansion of = 4 super Yang-Mills theory and the D-instanton expansion of a certain string theory, namely the topological B model whose target space is the Calabi-Yau supermanifold

TL;DR: In this article, the authors define new invariants of 3d Calabi-Yau categories endowed with a stability structure, which are elements of quantum tori over a version of the Grothendieck ring of varieties over the ground field.
Abstract: We define new invariants of 3d Calabi-Yau categories endowed with a stability structure. Intuitively, they count the number of semistable objects with fixed class in the K-theory of the category ('number of BPS states with given charge' in physics language). Formally, our motivic DT-invariants are elements of quantum tori over a version of the Grothendieck ring of varieties over the ground field. Via the quasi-classical limit 'as the motive of affine line approaches to 1' we obtain numerical DT-invariants which are closely related to those introduced by Behrend. We study some properties of both motivic and numerical DT-invariants including the wall-crossing formulas and integrality. We discuss the relationship with the mathematical works (in the non-triangulated case) of Joyce, Bridgeland and Toledano-Laredo, as well as with works of physicists on Seiberg-Witten model (string junctions), classification of N=2 supersymmetric theories (Cecotti-Vafa) and structure of the moduli space of vector multiplets. Relating the theory of 3d Calabi-Yau categories with distinguished set of generators (called cluster collection) with the theory of quivers with potential we found the connection with cluster transformations and cluster varieties (both classical and quantum).

TL;DR: In this paper, a cubic field theory was constructed for all genus amplitudes of the topological A-model for all non-compact toric Calabi-Yau threefold.
Abstract: We construct a cubic field theory which provides all genus amplitudes of the topological A-model for all non-compact toric Calabi-Yau threefolds. The topology of a given Feynman diagram encodes the topology of a fixed Calabi-Yau, with Schwinger parameters playing the role of Kahler classes of the threefold. We interpret this result as an operatorial computation of the amplitudes in the B-model mirror which is the quantum Kodaira-Spencer theory. The only degree of freedom of this theory is an unconventional chiral scalar on a Riemann surface. In this setup we identify the B-branes on the mirror Riemann surface as fermions related to the chiral boson by bosonization.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered BPS states in a large class of d=4, N=2 field theories, obtained by reducing six-dimensional (2,0) superconformal field theories on Riemann surfaces, with defect operators inserted at points of the RiemANN surface.
Abstract: We consider BPS states in a large class of d=4, N=2 field theories, obtained by reducing six-dimensional (2,0) superconformal field theories on Riemann surfaces, with defect operators inserted at points of the Riemann surface. Further dimensional reduction on S^1 yields sigma models, whose target spaces are moduli spaces of Higgs bundles on Riemann surfaces with ramification. In the case where the Higgs bundles have rank 2, we construct canonical Darboux coordinate systems on their moduli spaces. These coordinate systems are related to one another by Poisson transformations associated to BPS states, and have well-controlled asymptotic behavior, obtained from the WKB approximation. The existence of these coordinates implies the Kontsevich-Soibelman wall-crossing formula for the BPS spectrum. This construction provides a concrete realization of a general physical explanation of the wall-crossing formula which was proposed in 0807.4723. It also yields a new method for computing the spectrum using the combinatorics of triangulations of the Riemann surface.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduce the notion of a stability condition on a triangulated category and prove a deformation result which shows that the space with its natural topology is a manifold, possibly infinite-dimensional.
Abstract: This paper introduces the notion of a stability condition on a triangulated category. The motivation comes from the study of Dirichlet branes in string theory, and especially from M.R. Douglas's notion of $\Pi$-stability. From a mathematical point of view, the most interesting feature of the definition is that the set of stability conditions $\Stab(\T)$ on a fixed category $\T$ has a natural topology, thus defining a new invariant of triangulated categories. After setting up the necessary definitions I prove a deformation result which shows that the space $\Stab(\T)$ with its natural topology is a manifold, possibly infinite-dimensional.
