TL;DR: Several complexes of palladium and nickel have been synthesized and subjected to a variety of in vitro/in vivo screens, and the most toxic complexes were (πC 3 H 5 PdCl) 2 and Ni(py) 4 (NCO) 2 as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: In this article, the Gibbs free energies of asparaginyl, aspartyl, cysteinyl, and phenylalanyl anions at 25·0 °C and l= 3·00M-(Na) ClO4 were reported.
Abstract: Calorimetrically determined enthalpies and potentiometrically determined Gibbs free energies of protonation of asparaginyl, aspartyl, cysteinyl, and phenylalanyl anions at 25·0 °C and l= 3·00M-(Na) ClO4 are reported. The results are compared with those for similar studies (a) of these amino-acids at other ionic strengths and (b) of other amino-acids studied at l= 3·00M.

TL;DR: In this paper, a ring closure reaction was carried out in potassium hydrogen carbonate or in potassium hydroxide solutions respectively to give the conveniently isolated insoluble potassium salt of the 9-oxoxanthen-2-carboxylic acid.
Abstract: 7-Substituted 9-oxoxanthen-2-carboxylic acids can be prepared in good yield from hydroxylated benzophenones. Oxidative coupling of 4-hydroxy-3-(3-hydroxybenzoyl)benzoic acid using potassium ferricyanide gave 7-hydroxy-9-oxoxanthen-2-carboxylic acid (8; R = H). Cyclisation of 3-(5-chloro-2-methoxybenzoyl)-4-hydroxy-benzoic acid took place in alkaline solution to give 7-chloro-9-oxoxanthen-2-carboxylic acid. Both these ring closure reactions when carried out in potassium hydrogen carbonate or in potassium hydroxide solutions respectively gave the conveniently isolated insoluble potassium salt of the 9-oxoxanthen-2-carboxylic acid.

TL;DR: The relationship between the compositions of these complexes and carcinostatic activity is discussed in this article, where the authors also discuss the relationship between compositions of NiCl+, NiCl, Ni(asn)Cl and NiCl2Cl.
Abstract: Glass and chloride electrode studies at 25° and I= 3·00M(Na+)ClO4– have been used to express the equilibria involved in the NiII–asparaginate–Cl––OH– and PdII–asparaginate–Cl––OH– systems in terms of formation constants for the following complexes: NiCl+, Ni(asn)Cl, Ni(asn)2Cl–, Ni(asn)2ClOH2– and Pd(asn)H2+, Pd(asn)OH, Pd(asn)ClOH–, Pd(asn)ClH+. The relationship between the compositions of these complexes and carcinostatic activity is discussed.

TL;DR: Most of the PIH analogues were considerably more effective than DFO at both preventing 59Fe uptake from 59Fe-transferrin and in mobilizing 59Fe from prelabeled NB cells, and a linear relationship between Fe chelation efficacy and antiproliferative activity was found only for hydrazones derived from salicylaldehyde.

TL;DR: This review provides readers with an up to date account of the advances that have taken place over the past several decades in platinum-based chemotherapeutic agents, i.e. through interactions with DNA.
Abstract: Much success has been achieved with platinum-based chemotherapeutic agents, i.e. through interactions with DNA. The long-term application of Pt complexes is thwarted by issues, leading scientists to examine other metals such as palladium which could exhibit complementary modes of action (given emphasis wherever known). Over the last 10 years several research groups have focused on the application of an eclectic array of palladium complexes (of the type PdX2L2, palladacycles and related structures) as potential anti-cancer agents. This review therefore provides readers with an up to date account of the advances that have taken place over the past several decades.

TL;DR: The time constants for formation of the earliest intrachain contacts during protein folding are determined using triplet-triplet energy transfer and good solvents for polypeptide chains like EtOH, GdmCl and urea were found to slow intrachains diffusion and to decrease chain stiffness.

TL;DR: A copper(II) complex of the most potent of the chelators, salicylaldehyde benzoyl hydrazone (SBH), exhibits significantly greater inhibitory activity than does SBH itself, and it is possible that aroylhydrozones of this type and/or their metal complexes could prove to be useful therapeutic agents.
