TL;DR: Kjeldsen et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that the risk of the primary composite endpoint consisting of cardiovascular death, stroke and myocardial infarction was similar in hypertensive patients receiving the calcium-channel blocker diltiazem compared with conventional treatment based on diuretics and â-blockers.
