Journal ArticleDOI

An optimized transgenesis system for Drosophila using germ-line-specific φC31 integrases

TL;DR: The efficiency, ease-of-use, and versatility obtained here with the φC31-based integration system represents an important advance in transgenesis and opens up the possibility of systematic, high-throughput screening of large cDNA sets and regulatory elements.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ABC of the BX-C: the bithorax complex explained

TL;DR: This primer attempts to distill and explain the current knowledge about the bithorax complex, one of two Drosophila Hox clusters responsible for determining the posterior thorax and each abdominal segment of the fly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Probing long-distance regulatory interactions in the Drosophila melanogaster bithorax complex using Dam identification

TL;DR: This work provides the first documented example of a dynamic, long-distance physical interaction between distal regulatory elements within a living, multicellular organism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Histone chaperone ASF1 cooperates with the Brahma chromatin-remodelling machinery

TL;DR: It is shown that mutations in the Drosophila asf1 gene derepress silencing at heterochromatin and that the ASF1 protein has a cell cycle-specific nuclear and cytoplasmic localization, suggesting that ASF 1 plays a crucial role in both chromatin assembly and SWI/SNF-mediated chromatin remodelling.
