Matthias Längin,Tanja Mayr,Bruno Reichart,Sebastian Michel,Stefan Buchholz,Sonja Guethoff,Alexey Dashkevich,Andrea Baehr,Stefanie Egerer,Andreas Bauer,Maks Mihalj,Alessandro Panelli,Lara Issl,Jiawei Ying,Ann Kathrin Fresch,Ines Buttgereit,Maren Mokelke,Julia Radan,Fabian Werner,I. Lutzmann,Stig Steen,Trygve Sjöberg,Audrius Paskevicius,Liao Qiuming,Riccardo Sfriso,Robert Rieben,Maik Dahlhoff,Barbara Kessler,Elisabeth Kemter,Mayuko Kurome,Valeri Zakhartchenko,Katharina Klett,Katharina Klett,Rabea Hinkel,Rabea Hinkel,Christian Kupatt,Almuth Falkenau,Simone Reu,Reinhard Ellgass,Rudolf Herzog,Uli Binder,Günter Wich,Arne Skerra,David Ayares,Alexander Kind,Uwe Schönmann,Franz-Josef Kaup,Christian Hagl,Eckhard Wolf,Nikolai Klymiuk,Paolo Brenner,Jan-Michael Abicht +51 more
TL;DR: It is shown that α1,3-galactosyltransferase-knockout pig hearts that express human CD46 and thrombomodulin require non-ischaemic preservation with continuous perfusion and post-transplantation growth control to ensure long-term orthotopic function of the xenograft in baboons, the most stringent preclinical xenotransplantation model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intravenous immunoglobulins – understanding properties and mechanisms
A. Durandy,Srini V. Kaveri,Taco W. Kuijpers,M. Basta,Sylvia Miescher,Jeffrey V. Ravetch,Robert Rieben +6 more
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate the considerable progress that has been made in understanding the mechanisms of action of IVIgs, and may influence future perspectives in the field of Ig therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunoglobulin M–Enriched Human Intravenous Immunoglobulin Prevents Complement Activation In Vitro and In Vivo in a Rat Model of Acute Inflammation
Robert Rieben,Anja Roos,Anja Roos,Y. Muizert,Y. Muizert,Caroline Tinguely,Caroline Tinguely,Arnout F. Gerritsen,Arnout F. Gerritsen,Mohamed R. Daha,Mohamed R. Daha +10 more
TL;DR: IgM enrichment of IVIG preparations enhances their effect to prevent the inflammatory effects of complement activation, and is shown to be effective in vivo in the rat anti-Thy 1 nephritis model.
Journal ArticleDOI
A single localized dose of enzyme-responsive hydrogel improves long-term survival of a vascularized composite allograft
Thusitha Gajanayake,Radu Olariu,Franck Marie Leclère,Ashish Dhayani,Zijiang Yang,Anjan K. Bongoni,Yara Banz,Mihai A. Constantinescu,Jeffrey M. Karp,Praveen Kumar Vemula,Robert Rieben,Esther Vögelin +11 more
TL;DR: A single-dose local injection of an enzyme-responsive tacrolimus-hydrogel is capable of preventing VCA rejection for >100 days in a rat model and may offer a new approach for immunosuppression in VCA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isotype-specific detection of ABO blood group antibodies using a novel flow cytometric method
TL;DR: ABO‐FACS is a valid method to quantify anti‐A/B IgM, IgG and IgG subclasses to human A or B red blood cells and opens the possibility of isotype‐specific monitoring of anti‐ A/B antibodies levels after ABO‐incompatible solid organ and stem cell transplantation.
