Journal Article

Sonographically monitored amniocentesis to decrease intraoperative complications.

TL;DR: There was a statistically significant decrease in the incidence of bloody and dry taps of the first needle insertion and also in the number of patients that required multiple needle insertions with the sonographically monitored technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic chorioamnionitis displays distinct alterations of the amniotic fluid proteome

TL;DR: The findings herein strongly suggest that there is a pathophysiological association between the changes of immunomodulatory proteins in the amniotic fluid and chronic chorioamnionitis, a histological manifestation of maternal anti‐fetal allograft rejection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amniotic fluid volume in intra-amniotic inflammation with and without culture-proven amniotic fluid infection in preterm premature rupture of membranes

TL;DR: Oligohydramnios was more frequent in patients with culture-proven AF infection than in those with intra-amniotic inflammation and a negative AF Culture, and there was no significant difference in the median AFI or in the frequency of oligo-hydramnio according to the presence or absence of intra-ammiotic inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibiotic administration reduces the rate of intraamniotic inflammation in preterm prelabor rupture of the membranes.

TL;DR: Whether antimicrobial agents can reduce the magnitude of the intraamniotic inflammatory response in patients with PPROM by assessing the concentrations of interleukin-6 in amniotic fluid before and after antibiotic treatment is determined.
