Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping haplotype-haplotype interactions with adaptive LASSO.
TL;DR: A new strategy in modeling haplotype-haplotype interactions under the penalized logistic regression framework with adaptive L1-penalty is proposed which estimates and selects parameters by the modified Gauss-Seidel method nested within the EM algorithm.
Journal ArticleDOI
The anti-aging factor α-klotho during human pregnancy and its expression in pregnancies complicated by small-for-gestational-age neonates and/or preeclampsia.
Jezid Miranda,Roberto Romero,Steven J. Korzeniewski,Alyse G. Schwartz,Piya Chaemsaithong,Tamara Stampalija,Lami Yeo,Zhong Dong,Sonia S. Hassan,George P. Chrousos,Philip W. Gold,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa +11 more
TL;DR: Maternal plasma concentration of α-klotho was higher during pregnancy than in a non-pregnant state and was lower in mothers who delivered an SGA neonate than in those with an uncomplicated pregnancy regardless of the presence or absence of PE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maternal serum soluble CD30 is increased in pregnancies complicated with acute pyelonephritis.
Juan Pedro Kusanovic,Roberto Romero,Jimmy Espinoza,Francesca Gotsch,Samuel Edwin,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa,Pooja Mittal,Eleazar Soto,Offer Erez,Shali Mazaki-Tovi,Nandor Gabor Than,Lara A. Friel,Bo Hyun Yoon,Moshe Mazor,Sonia S. Hassan +14 more
TL;DR: Acute pyelonephritis during pregnancy is associated with a higher maternal serum concentration of sCD30 than normal pregnancy, which suggests that pregnant women with pyel onephritis may have a complex immune state in which there is activation of some components of what is considered a Th2 immune response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soluble ST2 in the fetal inflammatory response syndrome: in vivo evidence of activation of the anti-inflammatory limb of the immune response.
Tamara Stampalija,Roberto Romero,Steven J. Korzeniewski,Piya Chaemsaithong,Jezid Miranda,Lami Yeo,Zhong Dong,Sonia S. Hassan,Tinnakorn Chaiworapongsa +8 more
TL;DR: There was a strong positive correlation between sST2 and IL-10 in neonates with funisitis and/or FIRS and FIRS are associated with an elevation of umbilical cord plasma concentrations of soluble ST2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased midtrimester amniotic fluid activin A: A risk factor for subsequent fetal death☆☆☆
Felice Petraglia,R. Gomez,Stefano Luisi,Pasquale Florio,Je Tolosa,Massimo Stomati,Roberto Romero +6 more
TL;DR: An elevated concentration of activin A in amniotic fluid identifies women at risk of fetal death.
