A MicroRNA Signature Associated with Prognosis and Progression in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
George A. Calin,Manuela Ferracin,Manuela Ferracin,Amelia Cimmino,Gianpiero Di Leva,Masayoshi Shimizu,Sylwia E. Wojcik,Marilena V. Iorio,Rosa Visone,Nurettin Ilfer Sever,Muller Fabbri,Muller Fabbri,Rodolfo Iuliano,Tiziana Palumbo,Flavia Pichiorri,Claudia Roldo,Ramiro Garzon,Cinzia Sevignani,Laura Z. Rassenti,Hansjuerg Alder,Stefano Volinia,Chang Gong Liu,Thomas J. Kipps,Massimo Negrini,Carlo M. Croce +24 more
TL;DR: A unique microRNA signature is associated with prognostic factors and disease progression in CLL, and a germ-line mutation in the miR-16-1-miR-15a primary precursor caused low levels of microRNA expression in vitro and in vivo and was associated with deletion of the normal allele.
Journal Article
Bioactive IL-18 expression is up-regulated in Crohn's disease.
Giovanni Monteleone,Francesco Trapasso,Tiziana Parrello,Livia Biancone,Antonella Stella,Rodolfo Iuliano,Francesco Luzza,Alfredo Fusco,Francesco Pallone +8 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that IL-18 up-regulation is a feature of CD and suggest thatIL-18 may contribute to the local immunoinflammatory response in CD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lack of the architectural factor HMGA1 causes insulin resistance and diabetes in humans and mice
Daniela Foti,Eusebio Chiefari,Monica Fedele,Rodolfo Iuliano,Leonardo Brunetti,Francesco Paonessa,Guidalberto Manfioletti,Fabrizio Barbetti,Arturo Brunetti,Carlo M. Croce,Alfredo Fusco,Antonio Brunetti +11 more
TL;DR: A genetic flaw was reported that markedly reduced the intracellular expression of the high mobility group A1 (HMGA1) protein, and adversely affected insulin receptor expression in cells and tissues from four subjects with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA damage, homology-directed repair, and DNA methylation.
Concetta Cuozzo,Antonio Porcellini,Tiziana Angrisano,Annalisa Morano,Bongyong Lee,Alba Di Pardo,Samantha Messina,Rodolfo Iuliano,Alfredo Fusco,Mariarosaria Santillo,Mark T. Muller,Lorenzo Chiariotti,Max E. Gottesman,Enrico V. Avvedimento +13 more
TL;DR: The data support a mechanistic link between HR and DNA methylation and suggest thatDNA methylation in eukaryotes marks homologous recombined segments.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Nucleoprotein Complex Containing Sp1, C/EBPβ, and HMGI-Y Controls Human Insulin Receptor Gene Transcription
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that HMGI-Y plays significant molecular roles in the transcriptional activities of these factors in the context of the IR gene and provides concordant support for the hypothesis that, in affected individuals, a putative defect in these nuclear proteins may cause decreased IR expression with subsequent impairment of insulin signaling and action.
