Organic pollutants in industrial waste must be handled with viable and eco-friendly approaches. In particular, releasing toxic effluents like dyes into the environment pollutes water bodies, causing fatal diseases in humans and is hazardous to aquatic life. It necessitates the removal of effluent dyes before being discharged into the water bodies. The photocatalytic degradation method using metal oxide nanoparticles is the preferred choice amongst various dye remediation strategies. However, state-of-the-art metal oxide nanoparticle-based dye remediation involves developing non-toxic, economic, and eco-friendly metal oxides using green chemistry. Plant-mediated ZnO-based nanoplatforms exhibited substantial photocatalytic properties, non-toxicity, biocompatibility, and cost-effectiveness, possessing the potential to replace conventional dye remediation strategies. This review focuses on the development and performance of green synthesized ZnO nanoparticles towards degrading various dyes for wastewater remediation. It comprehensively summarizes the state-of-the-art green ZnO nanoparticle fabrication from various plant extracts (like leaves, seeds, juice, and fruits), illustrates their dye removal efficacies, and details their photocatalytic dye degradation mechanism. This review aims to serve as a fundamental structure to guide future research on green ZnO-based nanoplatforms for wastewater treatment, where photocatalytic attributes and green chemistry are prerequisites. 

Efficient dye degradation strategies using green synthesized ZnO-based nanoplatforms: A review

Metal/metal oxide nano systems (M-NSs) of tunable and manipulative properties are emerging suitable for cancer management via immunity development, early-stage diagnosis, nanotherapeutics, and targeted drug delivery systems. However, noticeable toxicity, off-targeted actions, lacking biocompatibility, and being expensive limit their acceptability. Moreover, involving high energy (top-down routes) and hazardous chemicals (bottom-up chemical routes) is altering human cycle. To manage such challenges, biomass (plants, microbes, animals) and green chemistry-based M-NSs due to scalability, affordability, are cellular, tissue, and organ acceptability are emerging as desired biogenic M-NSs for cancer management with enhanced features. The state-of-art and perspective of green metal/metal oxide nano systems (GM-NSs) as an efficient anti-cancer agent including, imaging, immunity building elements, site-specific drug delivery, and therapeutics developments are highlighted in this review critically. It is expected that this report will serve as guideline for design and develop high-performance GM-NSs for establishing them as next-generation anti-cancer agent capable to manage cancer in personalized manner.

Algae Mediated Pesticides Bioremediation: Mechanisms, Approaches, Limitations, and Prospects for Future Research

Nowadays pollution is a major concern for human mankind. As the generations are passing by, the more the worse it is getting to protect the environment. Every part of the environment is being contaminated due and in reverse, the humans and the other living being getting affected due to the consequences done by humans. Even though there are several technologies available to protect the environment still we find some voids to fill in and in this process, new technology evolves in. Water pollution is also considered to be one of the most ghastly situations, where economic development, rapid industrialization and even the population overgrowth is playing a key role. Due to rapid growth the release of several organic as well as inorganic substances into the environment, this is further leading to environmental pollution as well as the contamination of water. Because of this, combining nanotechnology in wastewater treatment will improve the quality of water. The major advantage of using the nanoparticles is they possess unique characteristics and have a high surface area where the unwanted particles get absorbed in these nanoparticles and get removed from them because of their high surface area. It can also be used for removing toxic substances. In this chapter, we discuss the latest technologies, which are available right now using the chalcogenides nanomaterials. Like, to disinfect the bacterial communities in wastewater, aspects of chalcogenide nanomaterials, as catalysts, remediation of various environmental contaminants, and their role in treating the contaminated water including organic contaminants degradation alongside bacterial disinfection.
