TL;DR: In this article, the authors defined the indices of critical performance of the production process of small-size enterprises in wood business and identified 24 types of failure identified, all of them considered as critical.
Abstract: The Brazilian forestry sector employs directly and indirectly 6,5 millions of people. There are, out of these, 2,5 million allocated in the mechanized processed wood sub sector. The industrial park, for the production of sawn wood, has approximately 10.000 units. Most of them are small size enterprises and 74,6% of them have less than 10.000 m3 year-1 of installed capacity. The small size enterprises are present low technology level, workers with poor qualification and difficulties of establishing control items which allow the efficient management of the productive process. Considering their social and economical importance, the managing difficulties of small and medium size enterprises and the use of indices of critical performance in order to improve the management system, this work aims at defining the indices of critical performance of the production process of small size enterprises in wood business. For such, the FMEA methodology was used to identify the potential failures and, as a result, to develop the performance indices. There were 24 types of failure identified, all of them considered as critical. They were analyzed and monitored. It was observed that there is a potential to improve the process.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study aimed to identify critical quality indicators and, if necessary, to develop a continuous improvement plan for harvest of sugarcane billets, using FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis).
Abstract: The quality control is used for the evaluation of processes and products, and it is important to detect and reduce variability and in operations management can be applied in mechanized harvesting of sugarcane billets. In this sense, this study aimed to identify critical quality indicators and, if necessary, to develop a continuous improvement plan for harvest of sugarcane billets. For the survey and definition of critical quality indicators the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) was applied, after the formation of the quality technical team. Evaluations of the collected variables were through control charts of individual values and the process capability indexes. There are 8 critical quality indicators in the billets harvesting process; the cutting height, the damage index, the percentage of non-viable buds and operating speed have greater importance for analysis due to the risk priority index and the easiness of obtaining data for analysis. The development of the improvement plan aims to reduce the variability due to crop billets, thus, making it able to perform the operation within the required quality standards.

TL;DR: Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) as mentioned in this paper is a ferramenta de qualidade that auxilia a implantação of a tecnologia, which busca reduzir and analisar as falhas precocemente no processo de produção, analisando sua aplicação na Agroindústria 4.0.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the results of the application of the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis methodology, within the scope of the Organisational Risk Management Plan, in the Municipal Division of Contract Works and Concessions of Oliveira de Azeméis City Council of the metropolitan area of Porto located in the north of Portugal with an area of approximately 164 Km2 and a few more than 20,000 inhabitants.
Abstract: This chapter presents the results of the application of the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis methodology, within the scope of the Organisational Risk Management Plan, in the Municipal Division of Contract Works and Concessions of Oliveira de Azeméis City Council of the metropolitan area of Porto located in the north of Portugal with an area of approximately 164 Km2 and a few more than 20,000 inhabitants. The application of this methodology establishes a bridge between risk management and the Plan for Prevention of Risks of Corruption and Related Infractions, describing the application of this methodology and referring how the levels of severity, occurrence and detection of a specific failure, which are essential in the implementation process. Once the application of this methodology is understood, an example of its implementation for the management of risk in the contract works service of the Municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis is also provided.

An update of the literature review allows us to conclude that this methodology remains a good approach for establishing a bridge between risk management and the Plan for Prevention of Risks of Corruption and Related Infractions, in line with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) recommendation on public integrity. Once the application of this methodology is understood, an example of its implementation for the management of risk in the contract works service of the Municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis is also provided.
