TL;DR: In this article, a 73.7 Tb/s (96×3×256Gb/s) DP-16QAM mode-division-multiplexed signal over 119km of few-mode fiber with inline multi-mode EDFA, using 6x6 MIMO digital signal processing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time domain multiplexed spatial division multiplexing receiver
TL;DR: A novel time domain multiplexed (TDM) spatial division multiplexing (SDM) receiver which allows for the reception of >1 dual polarization mode with a single coherent receiver, and corresponding 4-port oscilloscope, is experimentally demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Compact spatial multiplexers for mode division multiplexing
TL;DR: As a newly-emerging photonic integration platform, laser-inscribed 3D waveguide technology is applied for a fully-packaged dual-channel 6-mode SMUX including two 6-core photonic lantern structures as mode multiplexer and demultiplexer, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
MIMO equalization with adaptive step size for few-mode fiber transmission systems
TL;DR: Using an experimental 3-mode dual polarization coherent transmission setup, it is shown that the convergence time of the MMSE time domain equalizer (TDE) and frequency domainequalizer (FDE) can be reduced by approximately 50% and 30%, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
10 Spatial mode transmission using low differential mode delay 6-LP fiber using all-fiber photonic lanterns.
John van Weerdenburg,A. M. Velazquez-Benitez,Roy van Uden,Pierre Sillard,Denis Molin,Adrian Amezcua-Correa,Enrique Antonio-Lopez,Maxim Kuschnerov,Frans Huijskens,Hugo de Waardt,Ton Koonen,Rodrigo Amezcua-Correa,Chigo Okonkwo +12 more
TL;DR: By employing a novel round-robin encoding technique, stable performance over a long measurement period demonstrates the feasibility of 10x increase in single-core multi-mode transmission.
