Mapping Solar Magnetic Fields from the Photosphere to the Base of the Corona
Ryohko Ishikawa,Javier Trujillo Bueno,Tanausú del Pino Alemán,Takenori J. Okamoto,David E. McKenzie,Frédéric Auchère,Ryouhei Kano,Donguk Song,Masaki Yoshida,Laurel A. Rachmeler,Ken Kobayashi,Hirohisa Hara,Masahito Kubo,Noriyuki Narukage,Taro Sakao,Toshifumi Shimizu,Yoshinori Suematsu,Christian Bethge,Bart De Pontieu,Alberto Sainz Dalda,Genevieve D. Vigil,Amy R. Winebarger,Ernest Alsina Ballester,Luca Belluzzi,Jiri Stepan,Andrés Asensio Ramos,Mats Carlsson,Jorrit Leenaarts +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the magnetic field from the photosphere to the very upper chromosphere of the Sun has been inferred from spectropolarimetric observations of an active region plage and its surrounding enhanced network.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strategy for Realizing High-Precision VUV Spectro-Polarimeter
Ryohko Ishikawa,Noriyuki Narukage,Masahito Kubo,Shin-nosuke Ishikawa,Ryouhei Kano,Saku Tsuneta +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a strategy with which to realize high-precision spectro-polarimetry in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) range using the Chromospheric Lyman-Alpha Spectro-Polarimeter (CLASP).
Journal ArticleDOI
Vacuum ultraviolet spectropolarimeter design for precise polarization measurements.
Noriyuki Narukage,Frédéric Auchère,Ryohko Ishikawa,Ryouhei Kano,Saku Tsuneta,Amy R. Winebarger,Ken Kobayashi +6 more
TL;DR: The proposed VUV spectropolarimeter has two optically symmetric channels to simultaneously measure orthogonal linear polarization states with a single concave diffraction grating that serves both as the spectral dispersion element and beam splitter and to minimize the polarization errors caused by possible time variation of the VUV flux during the polarization modulation and by statistical photon noise.
Journal ArticleDOI
Birefringence of magnesium fluoride in the vacuum ultraviolet and application to a half-waveplate.
Ryohko Ishikawa,Ryouhei Kano,Takamasa Bando,Yoshinori Suematsu,Shin-nosuke Ishikawa,Masahito Kubo,Noriyuki Narukage,Hirohisa Hara,Saku Tsuneta,Hiroko Watanabe,Kiyoshi Ichimoto,Kunichika Aoki,Kenta Miyagawa +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown that MgF2 can be applied practically as a half-waveplate for the chromospheric Lyman-alpha spectro-polarimeter (CLASP) sounding rocket experiment and that the developed measurement method can be easily applied to other VUV birefringent materials at other wavelengths.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Reflectivity Coatings for a Vacuum Ultraviolet Spectropolarimeter
Noriyuki Narukage,Masahito Kubo,Ryohko Ishikawa,Shin-nosuke Ishikawa,Yukio Katsukawa,Toshihiko Kobiki,Gabriel Giono,Ryouhei Kano,Takamasa Bando,Saku Tsuneta,Frédéric Auchère,Ken Kobayashi,Amy R. Winebarger,Jim McCandless,Jianrong Chen,Joanne Choi +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, three types of high-reflectivity mirror and filter coatings for a solar spectropolarimeter in the hydrogen Lyman-α-v ultraviolet (VUV) region and evaluated their performance.
