Molecular Characterization of Extraintestinal Escherichia coli Isolates in Japan: Relationship between Sequence Types and Mutation Patterns of Quinolone Resistance-Determining Regions Analyzed by Pyrosequencing

TL;DR: A pyrosequencing-based high-throughput method for analyzing the nucleotide sequence of the quinolone resistance-determining regions (QRDRs) of gyrA and parC successfully determined the QRDR sequences of 139 out of 140 clinical Escherichia coli isolates, 28% of which were nonsusceptible to ciprofloxacin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Worldwide Lineages of Clinical Pneumococci in a Japanese Teaching Hospital Identified by DiversiLab System

TL;DR: A potential utility of DiversiLab for identifying worldwide lineage of pneumococcus is demonstrated and an optimized parameters of automated analysis should be useful especially for comparison for reference strains by "identification" function of DIVERSiLab.
Journal ArticleDOI

Emergence and Evolution of Unique Plasmids Harboring blaIMP-70 and blaCTX-M-253 in Multidrug-Resistant Providencia rettgeri

TL;DR: The genetic structure of the multidrug-resistant Providencia rettgeri strain is investigated and the evolution of the plasmids carrying these genes are evaluated, indicating that blaIMP-70 and blaCTX-M-253 were found on unique plasmid, indicated that they likely evolved through mutations and recombination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial resistance profiles of Campylobacter jejuni and Salmonella spp. isolated from enteritis patients in Japan

TL;DR: In this paper , the antimicrobial resistance of Campylobacter jejuni and Salmonella spp. isolated from patients with enteritis will aid in therapeutic decision-making.
