TL;DR: In this article, the structures of aphanamixin (XVI, XIX, and XIX) have been derived from the studies of spectroscopic and chemical properties and subsequently confirmed by their correlation with compounds of known structure and established stereochemistry.

Abstract: A neutral crystalline compound designated as aphanamixol, Cz 0 H 3 &0 2, m. p. I 30°, [ o( J 0- I 1°, isolated from the leaves of Aphimamixis polystachya (Wall) Parker, is shown to be a ditcrpcnoid of manoyl oxide series from the studies of its spectroscopic data and other physical and chemical properties. The NMR spectrum of aphanamixol fits excellently with this formulation as evidenced below. It shows the presence of a gem-dimethyl grouping (C 4) at 9.18T (6H). 'Ihe proton signal for the vinylic methyl group (C, 3) at 8.27Tassociated with (a) was identical with that in the NMR spectrum or geraniols. The spect1um showed a sharp singlet of 5-protons at.8.27T(2 protons of the two hydroxyl groups and 3 protons of the vinyliomethyl group). On deuteration, the 2 protons of the hydroxyl functions disappeared and a 3-proton singlet due to vinylic methyl group became well pronounced. It also showed the presenee of two methylene protons at C, 5 as doublets at 5.91 and 5.80T (J =7 cfs) and a one protob multiplet around 4.6 T for C, 4 proton.

TL;DR: From a literature search for reports on the chemical constituents of these plants, most constituents were found to be quinone derivatives or other compounds with unsaturated carbonyl groups.
Abstract: Seventy-five Myanmar timber extracts belonging to 27 families were examined for their leishmanicidal activities. Some timber extracts had significant leishmanicidal activity, especially extracts of Millettia pendula, which exhibited the most potent activity (MLC 3.1 μg/ml, MIC 1.6 μg/ml). Other timber extracts showing potent activity included those from Cedrela serrata, Cedrela toona, Cordia fragrantissima, Calophyllum kunstleri, Dalbergia cultrate, Grevillea robusta, Haplophragma adenophyllum, Michelia champaca, and Tectona grandis. From a literature search for reports on the chemical constituents of these plants, most constituents were found to be quinone derivatives or other compounds with unsaturated carbonyl groups.
