Journal ArticleDOI

Agrobacterium -mediated genetic transformation and development of herbicide-resistant sugarcane ( Saccharum species hybrids) using axillary buds

TL;DR: Results show that, with this protocol, generation and multiplication of transgenic shoots can be achieved in about 5 months with transformation efficiencies as high as 50%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hypoglycaemic and hypolipidaemic effects of Withania somnifera root and leaf extracts on alloxan-induced diabetic rats.

TL;DR: Treatment of the diabetic rats withWSREt, WSLEt and glibenclamide restored the changes of the above parameters to their normal level after eight weeks of treatment, indicating that WSREt and WSLET possess hypoglycaemic and hypolipidaemic activities in alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus (DM) rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of polyamines on the efficiency of multiplication and rooting of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal and content of some withanolides in obtained plants

TL;DR: An efficient mass multiplication protocol was developed for Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal from nodal explants of field-grown plants supplemented with 6-benzyladenine, indole-3-acetic acid, and with the addition of polyamine, spermidine and this protocol will be useful for scale-up production of withanolides on commercial scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antioxidant Effect of Dietary Supplement Withania somnifera L. Reduce Blood Glucose Levels in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats

TL;DR: It is suggested that the presence of phenolic compounds including flavonoids in W. somnifera root and leaf extracts and their antioxidant activity may play a vital role in reduction of blood glucose level in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glutamine : A suitable nitrogen source for enhanced shoot multiplication in Cucumis sativus L.

TL;DR: Shoot tip explants of cucumber were cultured in vitro on Murashige-Skoog medium with L-glutamine, adenine sulphate, asparagine, ammonium succinate, potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate as the nitrogen sources to study their effects on in vitro morphogenesis.
