TL;DR: A review of recent advances in the area of MHD stability and disruptions, since the publication of the 1999 ITER Physics Basis document (1999 Nucl. Fusion 39 2137-2664), is reviewed in this paper.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the current understanding of negative triangularity tokamak configuration in both physical and technological aspects, and propose to use negative triangularite to obtain equivalent energy breakeven condition in large tokak and clarify many important physics in the magnetically confined plasma to proceed to a fusion experimental reactor, ITER.
