TL;DR: A single server retrial queue with negative customers and two types of Bernoulli feedback is considered, and a necessary and sufficient condition for the system to be stable is investigated.
Abstract: A single server retrial queue with negative customers and two types of Bernoulli feedback is considered. A necessary and sufficient condition for the system to be stable is investigated. The system size probabilities at output epochs are obtained by using an embedded Markov chain. Further, the joint generating functions of queue length and server status are studied by using supplementary variables method. Some important system performance measures are derived. Busy period of the system is also discussed. Finally, extensive numerical illustrations are provided.

TL;DR: The time-dependent performance measures of the system and the probability density function of the first-passage-time to reach the maintenance state are discussed and the corresponding steady state analysis and key performance measures are presented.
Abstract: A single server queue subject to maintenance of the server and the close down period is considered. We obtain explicit expressions for the transient probabilities of the system size, the server under maintenance state and the close down period. The time-dependent performance measures of the system and the probability density function of the first-passage-time to reach the maintenance state are discussed. The corresponding steady state analysis and key performance measures of the system are also presented. Finally, the effect of various parameters on system performance measures is demonstrated by a numerical example.

TL;DR: This paper corrects the errors and obtains the correct results in the work carried out by Sudhesh on the transient probabilities of the system size for queueing systems subject to catastrophic failures and impatience of customers.
Abstract: Sudhesh (2010) has discussed the transient probabilities for queueing systems subject to catastrophic failures and impatience of customers. However, it contains some errors concerning the terminology and the final forms of the transient probabilities of the system size. In this paper, we correct the errors and obtain the correct results in the work carried out by Sudhesh. In addition, the steady state system size probabilities and performance measures are provided. Finally, two special cases are deduced from the more general queueing model under study.

TL;DR: In this article , an infinite-capacity retrial queueing model with uncertain information on arrival and service is studied, and an approach that provides the system characteristics of fuzzy queues in which the arrival rate and service rate are represented by triangular fuzzy numbers is developed.
Abstract: In this paper, we study an infinite-capacity retrial queueing model with uncertain information on arrival and service. We develop an approach that provides the system characteristics of fuzzy queues in which the arrival rate and service rate are represented by triangular fuzzy numbers. Fuzzy set theory is used to determine the uncertainty of input parameters and to analyze the model using a triangular membership function. The validity of the model is checked by numerical example.

TL;DR: In this article, an attempt has been made to address barriers in GLS product development (GLSPD) from an extensive literature review and from experts' opinions towards developing a hierarchical model structuring these barriers.
Abstract: In today’s competitive globalised business environment, production cost cutting is a primary issue before operation managers. As a research area, green lean six sigma (GLS) is proposed to have strategic importance in product development towards cutting costs, contributing to optimisation, and achieving sustainability. This research requirement has been realised to draw benefits out of three recent and involved approaches (green, lean and six sigma). In this research, an attempt has been made to address barriers in GLS product development (GLSPD) from an extensive literature review and from experts’ opinions towards developing a hierarchical model structuring these barriers. Twenty-one barriers have been identified and sorted from the review of literature and were then validated through discussions with experts. Relationships (contextual in nature) among these barriers have been realised during a brainstorming session. An interpretive structural modelling (ISM) technique has been utilised for devel...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the Green Lean implementation barriers and their contextual relationships and effects on the integration and deployment of this approach using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), Interpretive Structural Modelling and fuzzy Matriced' Impacts Croise Multiplication Appliqee a UN Classement (MICMAC) analyses.
Abstract: Green Lean has recently emerged as an alternative strategy for organisations to pursue both operational and sustainability excellence. The interest on this approach has rapidly risen in both academic and industry circles. However, despite this interest, very limited research has focused on its implementation, and no research has investigated the barriers that hinder the success of such activity. This study investigates the Green Lean implementation barriers and their contextual relationships and effects on the integration and deployment of this approach. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR), Interpretative Structural Modelling and fuzzy Matriced’ Impacts Croise’s Multiplication Appliqee a UN Classement (MICMAC) analyses were carried out. Fifteen barriers were extracted from the SLR and then validated in consultation with industry and academic experts. The Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) method was used to understand the relationship between the fifteen barriers and to develop a hierarchica...

TL;DR: This research work is to model the enablers of implementing ICT enabled control system in the process industry based on their interrelationships, with the help of industrialists in an oil refinery in central Kerala.
Abstract: The incumbent trend in process industry is to deploy information and communication technology (ICT), enabled wired process control systems. Distributed control system, supervisory control and data acquisition systems with wireless open loop control systems are commonly used to facilitate the same. However, wireless closed loop control system is a flexible system, which is not yet been introduced in the process industry. The major theme of this research work is to model the enablers of implementing ICT enabled control system in the process industry based on their interrelationships, with the help of industrialists in an oil refinery in central Kerala. The relationships of enablers have been established effectively by interpretive structural modeling (ISM). However, the interpretation of links is comparatively weak in ISM. Qualitative criteria are often accompanied by obscurities and vagueness. To compensate for this, ISM is further modified by total ISM (TISM). TISM is a novel qualitative modeling technique that has been used by researchers in diverse fields of investigation. For this study, TISM is used to develop the performance model for the enablers of a flexible control system for industry. The structural model developed using this methodology helps to understand the interaction between the various elements of enablers. After the model is developed, it is further subjected to assessment by a different group of domain experts so as to enhance its validity.
