Landfill leachate treatment: Review and opportunity
TL;DR: Today, the use of membrane technologies, more especially reverse osmosis (RO), either as a main step in a landfill leachate treatment chain or as single post-treatment step has shown to be an indispensable means of achieving purification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment process adapted to stabilized leachates: Lime precipitation–prefiltration–reverse osmosis
TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of processes for the treatment of landfill leachates is presented, which consists in a chemical precipitation of the leachate using lime, followed by a standard filtration on a rotary drum vacuum pre-coat filter which separates the precipitated phase from the liquid phase before the final step of reverse osmosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amelioration of ultrafiltration process by lime treatment: Case of landfill leachate
TL;DR: In this article, a pre-treatment with lime upstream ultra-filtration was envisaged, where the effluent considered is landfill leachate, and the results showed that the selectivity of membranes has an important influence on elimination of pollution from organic source.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lime treatment of stabilized leachates.
TL;DR: The results show that the lime treatment makes it possible to act efficiently on the inorganic fraction of leachates through a decarbonation mechanism which entails massive precipitation of the carbonates under the form of CaCO(3), and to eliminate by co-precipitation the high Molecular Weight organic macromolecules (>50,000 g.mol(-1)) such as humic acids.
