Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemic and pandemic viral infections: impact on tuberculosis and the lung: A consensus by the World Association for Infectious Diseases and Immunological Disorders (WAidid), Global Tuberculosis Network (GTN), and members of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Study Group for Mycobacterial Infections (ESGMYC).

Catherine W.M. Ong, +51 more
TL;DR: The epidemiology and immunology of these viral infections and their interactions with TB are discussed with implications for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of airborne infections (infection control, viral containment and workplace safety).
Journal ArticleDOI

In-vitro evaluation of the immunomodulatory effects of Baricitinib: Implication for COVID-19 therapy.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of baricitinib on the SARS-CoV-2-specific response using the whole-blood platform was investigated. And the results showed that exogenous addition of this therapy significantly decreased IFN-γ response to spike.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spike is the most recognized antigen in the whole-blood platform in both acute and convalescent COVID-19 patients.

TL;DR: In this paper, the best peptide pool was identified to detect SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell response using a whole-blood platform and ELISA was used to analyse interferon (IFN)-γ levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Concurrent cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis and COVID-19 pneumonia with in vitro immune cell anergy.

TL;DR: In this article, a case of a patient with in vitro immune cell anergy affected by bilateral cavitary pulmonary TB and subsequent COVID-19-associated pneumonia with a worst outcome was described from both the clinical and immunological point of view.
