TL;DR: In this paper, resource utilization information is collected from one or more subsystems or processing engines of an information management system, and analyzed to gain insights into system performance, such as system capacity management.
Abstract: Logging and analysis of resource utilization information may be implemented, for example, to achieve intelligent capacity management of information management system resources. In one implementation, resource utilization information may be collected from one or more subsystems or processing engines of an information management system, and analyzed to gain insights into system performance. System capacity management may be implemented using collected resource utilization information, for example, to achieve dynamic management of system resources.

TL;DR: In this paper, a gateway device including an access interface to an external network, a trunked interface, and translation logic is used to assign one of first network addresses to each first device of a first network, dividing the first network into a plurality of VLANs, and assigning first devices with the same first address to different second network addresses.
Abstract: A gateway device including an access interface to an external network, a trunked interface, and translation logic. The access interface is associated with multiple external source addresses. The trunked interface is interfaced with multiple different virtual local area networks (VLANs), where each VLAN is associated with a corresponding VLAN tag and at least one of potentially overlapping internal source addresses. The translation logic translates between each external source address and each unique combination of internal source address and VLAN tag. A method of network address translation including assigning one of first network addresses to each first device of a first network, dividing the first network into a plurality of VLANs, separating the first devices with the same first network address into different VLANs, and assigning first devices with the same first address to different second network addresses.

TL;DR: In this article, a system, apparatus, method, and computer program product for automatically configuring management service payloads for cloud IT service delivery are disclosed, where a container that provides the cloud IT services comprises a container specification that specifies the payloads that are required to implement the at least one service provided by that container and that comprises automation scripts for downloading and configuring those payloads.
Abstract: A system, apparatus, method, and computer program product for automatically configuring management service payloads for cloud IT service delivery are disclosed. A container that provides the cloud IT service comprises a container specification that specifies the payloads that are required to implement the at least one service provided by that container and that comprises automation scripts for downloading and configuring those payloads. And that container is implemented by reading the container specification, invoking the automation scripts to download the payloads that are required to implement the at least one service, and invoking the automation scripts to link the downloaded payloads to the one or more containers.

TL;DR: An application reservation and delivery system with capacity pooling including a logical resource pool, an application library, a resource manager, and a deployment manager is presented in this article, where each application configuration is decomposed to a specified level of granularity.
Abstract: An application reservation and delivery system with capacity pooling including a logical resource pool, an application library, a resource manager, and a deployment manager. The logical resource pool includes computer resource assets which includes asset type, amount, and asset source in which each computer resource asset is decomposed to a specified level of granularity. The application library includes application configurations, each including at least one server configuration and computer resource asset requirements. The resource manager tracks availability of the computer resource assets, receives requests for specific application configurations for specified time periods, compares each requested application configuration with available computer resource assets at the specified time periods, and reserves resources for each requested application configuration during the specified time periods. The deployment manager deploys each requested application configuration using the reserved resources.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system, apparatus, method, and computer program product that automate the deployment of reference implementation architectures for pre-integrated multi-product or sub-product capability cloud IT service delivery solutions is presented.
Abstract: A system, apparatus, method, and computer program product that automate the deployment of reference implementation architectures for pre-integrated multi-product or sub-product capability cloud IT service delivery solutions. The apparatus comprises a sizing tool and a deployment automation tool. The sizing tool determines the attributes of the resources that are required to provide the service delivery solution, and determines the quantity those resources that are required to provide a particular service level based on those attributes. And the deployment automation tool generates software bundles or virtual appliances that operate together to provide the service delivery solution when they are installed on the resources. The service delivery solution comprises a base console that is configured to invoke processes on a plurality of interchangeable containers, wherein each of the plurality containers provides different functionality for delivering different services or service offerings.

Abstract: System, method, and tangible computer-readable storage media are disclosed for providing a brokering service for compute resources The method includes, at a brokering service, polling a group of separately administered compute environments to identify resource capabilities and information, each compute resource environment including the group of managed nodes for processing workload, receiving a request for compute resources at the brokering service system, the request for compute resources being associated with a service level agreement (SLA) and based on the resource capabilities across the group of compute resource environments, selecting compute resources in one or more of the group of compute resource environments The brokering service system receives workload associated with the request and communicates the workload to the selected resources for processing The brokering services system can aggregate resources for multiple cloud service providers and act as an advocate for or a guarantor of the SLA associated with the workload

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe improved capabilities for a virtualization environment adapted for development and deployment of at least one software workload, the virtualisation environment having a metamodel framework that allows the association of a policy to the software workload upon development of the workload that is applied upon deployment of software workload.
Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for a virtualization environment adapted for development and deployment of at least one software workload, the virtualization environment having a metamodel framework that allows the association of a policy to the software workload upon development of the workload that is applied upon deployment of the software workload. This allows a developer to define a security zone and to apply at least one type of security policy with respect to the security zone including the type of security zone policy in the metamodel framework such that the type of security zone policy can be associated with the software workload upon development of the software workload, and if the type of security zone policy is associated with the software workload, automatically applying the security policy to the software workload when the software workload is deployed within the security zone.

TL;DR: In this article, a video segment can be shared over a computer network by first receiving the video segment at a receiving computer on the network, and the receiving computer can then send the video segments to a destination computer in the network.
Abstract: A video segment can be shared over a computer network by first receiving the video segment at a receiving computer on the network. The receiving computer assures that the video segment is in a streaming video format, and creates at least one identification tag for the video segment. The receiving computer also stores the video segment, and communicates the identification tag to another computer on the network. Upon subsequent receipt of that identification tag, the receiving computer streams the video segment to a destination computer on the network.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for logically routing a packet between a source machine in a first logical domain and a destination machine that is in a second logical domain is described, which configures a router in a host that includes the second-level managed switching element.
Abstract: A novel method for logically routing a packet between a source machine that is in a first logical domain and a destination machine that is in a second logical domain is described. The method configures a managed switching element as a second-level managed switching element. The method configures a router in a host that includes the second-level managed switching element. The method communicatively couples the second-level managed switching element with the router. The method causes the router to route a packet when the router receives a packet from the first logical domain that is addressed to the second logical domain.
