Biological Control with Trichogramma: Advances, Successes, and Potential of Their Use
TL;DR: All Trichogramma programs must address the following four aspects to be successful commercially: selection of the appropriate population is based on inter- and intraspecific variation, as well as on current definitions of parasitoid quality.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The first whole-genome sequence of a basal lepidopteran species, Plutella xylostella, is reported, which contains 18,071 protein-coding and 1,412 unique genes with an expansion of gene families associated with perception and the detoxification of plant defense compounds.

TL;DR: It was found that local species richness and abundance typically peaked at higher latitudes, displaying patterns opposite to those observed in aboveground organisms, which suggest that climate change may have serious implications for earthworm communities and for the functions they provide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insect community composition and trophic guild structure in decaying logs from eastern Canadian pine-dominated forests
TL;DR: Wood-inhabiting insect biodiversity, and its associated ecological functions, may best be maintained through forest management practices that do not reduce overall amounts of CWD, and that ensure it is available in both early and late stages of decomposition.
