Journal ArticleDOI

Oil palm natural diversity and the potential for yield improvement

TL;DR: African oil palm has the highest productivity amongst cultivated oleaginous crops and could provide a simple practical solution to eliminate global pro-vitamin A deficiency, and the molecular bases of agronomically important traits can be understood at the single base pair resolution, enabling gene-centered breeding and engineering of this remarkable crop.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural Performance of Alkali Activated Soil-Ash versus Soil-Cement

TL;DR: Alkaline activation of fly ash (FA) was used to improve the mechanical performance of a silty sand, considering this new material as a replacement for soil-cement applications, namely, bases and subbases, for transportation infrastructures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of the Porosity/Cement Ratio on the Compression of Cemented Soil

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the compression behavior of artificially cemented soil by the adjusted porosity/cement index using a correlation established in the recent literature, and found that for each value of this index, defined as the ratio of porosity to the volumetric cement content, there was a unique normal compression line (NCL).
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical and durability properties of a soil stabilised with an alkali-activated cement

TL;DR: In this paper, a silty sand was stabilised with an alkali-activated cements (AAC) synthesised from low calcium fly ash and an alkaline solution made from sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the shearing behaviour of an artificially cemented soil

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results of low-to-high-pressure triaxial tests performed on pure and cemented specimens of decomposed granite where the dosage was controlled, chosen as a function of the ratio of porosity to volumetric cement content or adjusted porosity/cement index.
