What makes organizations so similar? We contend that the engine of rationalization and bureaucratization has moved from the competitive marketplace to the state and the professions. Once a set of organizations emerges as a field, a paradox arises: rational actors make their organizations increasingly similar as they try to change them. We describe three isomorphic processes-coercive, mimetic, and normative—leading to this outcome. We then specify hypotheses about the impact of resource centralization and dependency, goal ambiguity and technical uncertainty, and professionalization and structuration on isomorphic change. Finally, we suggest implications for theories of organizations and social change.

The iron cage revisited: Institutional isomorphism and collective rationality in organizational fields (Chinese Translation)

The research investigates the role of transformational leadership in enhancing employee engagement during organizational change, and the individual and sequential mediating role of valence and trust in leadership. Based on cross-sectional data from a survey of employees in Bangladesh’s banking sector, the study uses structural equation modeling to test four hypotheses related to employee engagement and organizational change. The results showed that transformational leadership positively associated with employee engagement and that both valence and trust in leadership individually and sequentially mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and employee engagement. The research contributes to the areas of organizational change management and human resource management by clarifying the impact of transformational leadership on employee engagement. It also provides practical guidance on improving employee engagement in Bangladesh’s banking sector, and elsewhere, during periods of organizational change.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to determine the factors influencing the adoption of new information systems (IS) in organizations. Based on the institutional theory, this research proposes that organizations may induce their employees to adopt new IS by creating three types of institutional pressure: coercive, normative and mimetic. It is further argued that the effects of these three institutional pressures on employees’ new IS usage depend on their cultural orientations.


Design/methodology/approach
Model testing relies on data collected from 370 banking sector employees during the implementation of a new “customer relationship management” system. The hypothesized model was tested by using the structural equation modeling technique in MPlus 7.0.


Findings
The findings of this research reveal that institutional pressures (coercive, normative and mimetic) have positive effects on employees’ attitudes to using the new IS, which, in turn, positively influences their IS usage. In addition, collectivism strengthens the positive effect of coercive and normative forces on attitudes to using the new IS. Conversely, collectivism weakens the effect of the mimetic force on employees’ attitudes to using the new IS.


Originality/value
This research is among pioneering studies that explain the effect of institutional pressures (coercive, normative and mimetic) on employees’ IS usage. It is the first study of its nature that demonstrates that each of the three institutional pressures has differential effects on employees with highly collectivist orientations in comparison with employees with low collectivist orientations.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of family business exposure on individuals' entrepreneurial intentions (EIs). By applying the institutional framework at the micro level, this study proposed the mediation of three types of institutional forces (coercive, normative and mimetic) between the relationship of family business exposure and EIs.,Data were collected from 367 university students in Pakistan. The survey design was used for the data collection. The measurement and hypothesized models were tested using the structural equation modeling technique in Mplus 7.0.,The findings of this study revealed that family business exposure positively influenced the institutional forces (coercive, normative and mimetic) which further developed the individuals' EIs. However, family business exposure did not affect the EIs directly that showed the full mediation of institutional forces between the relationship of family business exposure and EIs.,This is the first study in its nature which applied institutional theory from the macro level to the micro level within the context of family business. The results revealed the institutional forces as the underpinning mechanism which explains the relationship between family business exposure and EIs.

The effect of family business exposure on individuals' entrepreneurial intentions: an institutional theory perspective

This research uses a survey as a data gathering instrument to look into the "Impact of Pakistani Geo and Hum TV Dramas on Language and Dressing of Women”. This study is quantitative by nature. It targeted 400 men and women between the ages of 20 and 45 watching Geo and Hum programs on Television. The findings suggested that Geo and Hum TV dramas impacted women's language and attire. The hypothesis was put to the test using the chi-square statistical test. The percentage and frequency of answers were calculated using SPSS Software. The impact of Geo and Hum TV programs on women was studied using the Cultivation Theory. Results of the study show that mass media, particularly Television, has the most substantial effects on its viewers' habits. The influence of Geo and Hum TV dramas on women has impacted a lot since the arrival of cable and satellite communications. Private channels are a source of change in women’s lifestyles.
