Effect of ion substitution on properties of bioactive glasses: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the addition of different elements into the composition of bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics was systematically discussed, where these dopant ions fit into the glass structure and how these affect the delivery and properties of the glass as a whole.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, characterization and bioactivity investigation of bioglass/hydroxyapatite composite

TL;DR: In this article, a composite sample of hydroxyapatite with synthesized bioglass was prepared at 1000°C and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and surface electron microscopy (SEM).
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental assessment of functionally graded reinforced concrete (FGRC) slabs under drop weight and projectile impacts

TL;DR: In this article, the impact resistance of functionally graded reinforced concrete (FGRC) without conventional reinforcement under drop weight and projectile impact was investigated, and the experimental results showed high efficiency of the proposed FGRC under low velocity impacts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dextran hydrogels incorporated with bioactive glass-ceramic: Nanocomposite scaffolds for bone tissue engineering.

TL;DR: Dex/nBGC composite scaffolds were found to show improved human osteoblasts proliferation and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity with increasing nBGC content up to 16 (wt%) over two weeks, and can be offered as promising bioactive scaffolds for bone tissue engineering applications.
