Demonstration of high efficiency elastocaloric cooling with large ΔT using NiTi wires
Jun Cui,Yiming Wu,Jan Muehlbauer,Yunho Hwang,Reinhard Radermacher,Sean Fackler,Manfred Wuttig,Ichiro Takeuchi +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate that elastocaloric cooling (EC), a type of solid-state cooling mechanism based on the latent heat of reversible martensitic transformation, can have the coefficient of performance as high as ≈11, with a directly measured ΔT of 17 C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Xi-cam: a versatile interface for data visualization and analysis
Ronald Pandolfi,Daniel B. Allan,Elke Arenholz,Luis Barroso-Luque,Stuart I. Campbell,Thomas A Caswell,Austin Blair,Francesco De Carlo,Sean Fackler,Amanda P. Fournier,Guillaume Freychet,Masafumi Fukuto,Dogˇa Gürsoy,Zhang Jiang,Harinarayan Krishnan,Dinesh Kumar,R. Joseph Kline,Ruipeng Li,Christopher Liman,Stefano Marchesini,Apurva Mehta,Alpha T. N'Diaye,Dilworth Y. Parkinson,Holden Parks,Lenson A Pellouchoud,Talita Perciano,Fang Ren,Shreya Sahoo,Joseph Strzalka,Daniel F. Sunday,Christopher J. Tassone,Daniela Ushizima,Singanallur Venkatakrishnan,Kevin G. Yager,Peter H. Zwart,James A. Sethian,Alexander Hexemer +36 more
TL;DR: The core of Xi-cam is an extensible plugin-based graphical user interface platform which provides users with an interactive interface to processing algorithms, and targets cross-facility and cross-technique collaborative development, in support of multi-modal analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combinatorial exploration of rare-earth-free permanent magnets: Magnetic and microstructural properties of Fe-Co-W thin films
Tieren Gao,Y. Q. Wu,Sean Fackler,I. Kierzewski,Ying Zhang,Apurva Mehta,Matthew J. Kramer,Ichiro Takeuchi +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic and structural properties of Fe-Co-W films using a composition spread technique were investigated, and large magnetization and enhanced perpendicular coercive fields of low W concentration films were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Local control of magnetic anisotropy in transcritical permalloy thin films using ferroelectric BaTiO3 domains
Sean Fackler,Michael J. Donahue,Tieren Gao,Paris N. A. Nero,Sang-Wook Cheong,John Cumings,Ichiro Takeuchi +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the local coupling between dense magnetic stripe domains in transcritical permalloy (tPy) thin films and ferroelectric domains of BaTiO3 single crystals in a tPy/BaTiO 3 heterostructure was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of the Superconducting Proximity Effect in the Surface State of SmB 6 Thin Films
Seunghun Lee,Xiaohang Zhang,Yangang Liang,Sean Fackler,Jie Yong,Xiangfeng Wang,Johnpierre Paglione,Richard L. Greene,Ichiro Takeuchi +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a thin film of samarium hexaboride was used to induce superconductivity in the surface of a three-dimensional topological insulator, which is a goal of condensed-matter physics.
