Abstract: A planar monopole antenna with a staircase shape and small volume (25times26times1 mm3) is proposed in this paper. With the use of a half-bowtie radiating element, the staircase-shape, and a modified ground plane structure, the proposed antenna has a very wide impedance bandwidth measured at about 11.6 GHz (2.9-14.5 GHz, bandwidth ratio about 1:5) below VSWR 2 including the WLAN band notched in the vicinity of 5 GHz. An omnidirectional radiation pattern is obtained. The group delay which is an indication of linearity between two proposed antennas is less than 1 ns. The electrical characteristics in terms of frequency and time domains and physical ones of the proposed antenna make it attractive for use in ultrawideband (UWB) systems

Abstract: A novel ultra-wideband antenna with band elimination characteristic is presented, which has omnidirectional patterns in the E-plane and impedance bandwidth of about 3-18 GHz with VSWR below 2. The proposed antenna is fed by microstrip line, and consists of the monopole type with two parasitism-patches rejecting 5.15-5.825 GHz bandlimited by IEEE 802.11a and HIPERLAN/2.

Abstract: This paper presents the evaluation of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) arrays by analyzing the mutual coupling, correlation coefficient, and total active reflection coefficient. The meaning and analysis of the three parameters are demonstrated in this paper. We show the effect of spatial and pattern diversity on MIMO arrays. We also attempt to achieve optimization of the array antenna's allocation for wireless broadband MIMO applications by performance evaluation

Abstract: A novel band-rejected ultrawideband antenna with one parasitic strip is presented in this paper. It is designed to work on a substrate FR4 that has a thickness of 1 mm and relative permittivity of 4.6, and to operate from 3 to 17 GHz. The proposed antenna is fed by microstrip line and utilizes the parasitic strip to reject the frequency band (5.15-5.825 GHz) limited by IEEE 802.11a and HIPERLAN/2. The size of the antenna is 20/spl times/20 mm/sup 2/ and this antenna has good radiation characteristics. Effects of varying the location and length of the parasitic strip and the structure of the ground and monopole patch on the antenna performance have also been studied.

Abstract: A low side-lobe substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) antenna array is presented at the 28-GHz band using broadband unequal feeding network for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) handset devices. The ground-plane size of the proposed antenna is fixed to half of the size of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The antenna array has been implemented with a multilayer structure created by stacking three substrates and a copper plate. An 8-way SIW feeding network with broadband 4-stage T-junction dividers and a cavity-backed antenna are investigated to obtain broadband performance. The proposed unequal T-junction dividers with phase compensation are introduced and designed for various output ratios. Applying Taylor beam-pattern synthesis in the 8-way SIW feeding network, low side-lobe performance is achieved. The measured result of the fabricated antenna has 2.3 GHz bandwidth within $\text{S}_11\,{ . The fabricated antenna can be performed with a gain up to 13.97 dBi with a low cross-polarization and symmetrical fan beam radiation patterns with low side-lobe levels. Most of the measured results are validated with the simulated results. The proposed antenna array provides low cost, broadband performance, and good radiation performances with low side-lobe levels for mm-wave handset devices.
