MIBiG 2.0: a repository for biosynthetic gene clusters of known function.
Satria A. Kautsar,Kai Blin,Simon Shaw,Jorge C. Navarro-Muñoz,Barbara R. Terlouw,Justin J. J. van der Hooft,Jeffrey A. van Santen,Vittorio Tracanna,Hernando G. Suarez Duran,Victòria Pascal Andreu,Nelly Selem-Mojica,Mohammad Alanjary,Serina L. Robinson,George Lund,Samuel C. Epstein,Ashley C. Sisto,Louise K. Charkoudian,Jérôme Collemare,Roger G. Linington,Tilmann Weber,Marnix H. Medema +20 more
TL;DR: MIBiG 2.0 is presented, which encompasses major updates to the schema, the data, and the online repository itself, and improves the user experience by adding new features such as query searches and a statistics page, and enabled direct link-outs to chemical structure databases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Widespread soil bacterium that oxidizes atmospheric methane.
Alexander Tøsdal Tveit,Anne Grethe Hestnes,Serina L. Robinson,Arno Schintlmeister,Svetlana N. Dedysh,Nico Jehmlich,Martin von Bergen,Martin von Bergen,Craig W. Herbold,Michael Wagner,Andreas Richter,Mette M. Svenning +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a pure culture of a bacterium, strain MG08 that grows on air at atmospheric concentrations of CH4 [1.86 parts per million volume (p.p.m.).
Journal ArticleDOI
Intergenerational transfer of antibiotic-perturbed microbiota enhances colitis in susceptible mice
Anjelique Schulfer,Thomas Battaglia,Yelina Alvarez,Luc Bijnens,Victoria E. Ruiz,Melody Ho,Serina L. Robinson,Tonya Ward,Laura M. Cox,Laura M. Cox,Arlin B. Rogers,Dan Knights,R. Balfour Sartor,Martin J. Blaser,Martin J. Blaser +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that germ-free adult pregnant mice inoculated with a gut microbial community shaped by antibiotic exposure transmitted their perturbed microbiota to their offspring with high fidelity, indicating that antibiotic treatment has long-term effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Editor’s Highlight: Sequence Alignment to Predict Across Species Susceptibility (SeqAPASS): A Web-Based Tool for Addressing the Challenges of Cross-Species Extrapolation of Chemical Toxicity
Carlie A. LaLone,Daniel L. Villeneuve,David Lyons,Henry W. Helgen,Serina L. Robinson,Joseph A. Swintek,Travis W. Saari,Gerald T. Ankley +7 more
TL;DR: Three case studies are described herein to demonstrate application of the SeqAPASS tool, focused on predictions of pollinator susceptibility to molt-accelerating compounds and neonicotinoid insecticides, and the third on evaluation of cross-species susceptibility to strobilurin fungicides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biosynthesis and chemical diversity of β-lactone natural products
TL;DR: Recent discoveries in enzymatic β-lactone ring closure via ATP-dependent synthetases, intramolecular cyclization from seven-membered rings, and thioesterase-mediated cycling during release from nonribosomal peptide synthetase assembly lines are reviewed.
