Journal ArticleDOI
Non-small cell lung cancer: current treatment and future advances
Cecilia Zappa,Shaker A. Mousa +1 more
TL;DR: Current treatments including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy are discussed as well as how biomarker testing has helped improve survival in patients with NSCLC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA: health benefits throughout life.
TL;DR: Recently, fish-derived omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA have been associated with fetal development, cardiovascular function, and Alzheimer's disease as discussed by the authors, which has been linked to promising results in prevention, weight management, and cognitive function in those with very mild Alzheimer’s disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of Angiogenesis in Vivo by Ligation of Integrin α5β1 with the Central Cell-Binding Domain of Fibronectin
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the integrin α5β1 and its ligand fibronectin are coordinately up-regulated on blood vessels in human tumor biopsies and play critical roles in angiogenesis, resulting in tumor growth in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of Proinflammatory and Proangiogenic Cytokines in Patients with Head and Neck Cancer
Zhong Chen,P. S. Malhotra,Giovana R. Thomas,Frank G. Ondrey,Dianne C. Duffey,C. W. Smith,I. Enamorado,Ning Yeh,Glenn S. Kroog,Susan F. Rudy,Linda McCullagh,Shaker A. Mousa,Martha Quezado,Laurie L. Herscher,C. Van Waes +14 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that cytokines important in proinflammatory and proangiogenic responses are detectable in cell lines, tissue specimens, and serum from patients with H NSCC and may increase the pathogenicity of HNSCC and prove useful as biomarkers or targets for therapy.
