Dislocations in bcc Metals and Their Motion

TL;DR: In this paper, Li et al. compared the low-temperature flow stresses of three kinds of metals: copper, iron and steel, and found that the high flow stress of Fe is much higher than the other two.
Book ChapterDOI

Dislocation Motion in the Field of a Random Distribution of Point Obstacles: Solution Hardening

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the case where the frictional forces due to the material are very small and show that the time of motion in the area between barriers becomes longer than that needed to surmount each of them.
Book ChapterDOI

High-Temperature Deformation of Metals and Alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the characteristics of high-temperature deformation are shown by using the deformation mechanism map, and the problems special to high temperature deformation, and experimental techniques to settle them, are given to help the understanding of the Deformation mechanism described in the following chapters.
Book ChapterDOI

Dislocation Motion Controlled by the Peierls Mechanism

TL;DR: In this article, theoretical treatments of the dislocation glide controlled by the Peierls potential energy with respect to a dislocation position are presented, where the authors consider the case of a single crystal with a single dislocation and show that the self-energy of this dislocation changes with the periodicity of the lattice.
