Journal ArticleDOI

CD103−CD11b+ dendritic cells regulate the sensitivity of CD4 T cell responses to bacterial flagellin

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that TLR5 expression by dendritic cells (DCs) allows a 1,000-fold enhancement of T-cell sensitivity to flagellin, and this enhancement did not require the expression of NLRC4 or Myd88.
Journal ArticleDOI

Airway epithelial indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase inhibits CD4+ T cells during Aspergillus fumigatus antigen exposure.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that an overexpression of IDO within the airway epithelium represents a novel mechanism by which the number of CD4(+) T cells recruited to the lung and their capacity to produce cytokines can be diminished in a model of allergic airway disease, and these results also highlight the critical role of dendritic cells in the antiasthmatic effects of IDo induction by CpG DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Targeted Disruption of the IL‐6 Related Genes: gp130 and NF‐IL‐6

TL;DR: From the analyses of c/.v-regulatory elements in the acute-phase protein genes and the nuclear factors binding to these elements, two transcription factors, NF-IL6 and APRF/STAT3.
Journal ArticleDOI

Disruption of nuclear factor-interleukin-6, a transcription factor, results in severe mycobacterial infection.

TL;DR: It is concluded that NF-IL-6 is a critical transcription factor in mycobacterial control as well as in granulocyte-colony stimulating factor induction resulting in neutrophil activation.
