Some practical considerations in the use of Metropolis and force-biased Monte Carlo simulations on liquids

TL;DR: In this article, a series of force-biased and two Metropolis Monte Carlo calculations were run on a dense Lennard-Jones fluid just above its melting point, and the purpose was to test some recent theoretical predictions as to the relative speed and stochastic characteristics of these algorithms, and to learn what the most propitious maximum step-size was.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pressure-driven reentrance phenomena in a binary mixture of achiral liquid crystals: role of inverse layer spacing

TL;DR: In this paper, the free energy density of a binary mixture of liquid crystals exhibiting the phase sequence on cooling is explained within the framework of Landau de Gennes theory, and the role of inverse layer spacing, which mimics an order parameter, couples with the order parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dielectric Relaxation Spectroscopy of Liquid Crystal in Nematogenic Mesophase

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the dielectric behavior of a high temperature nematic liquid crystal (NLC) in both the planar as well as homeotropic alignments.
