In the upcoming era of technology Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are not new eye catching technology but still it has some limitations to put a stop for actual enactment. It is true that the progress of new technologies has made it more beneficial to afford the hardware and software made available AR, VR and MR in the number of domains including education. The nature of technologies provides a number of opportunities. It may help from traditional allocation of separate lessons to take care of pastoral responsibility to learning concepts. A Survey: Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality in Education

Background In the past few years, augmented reality (AR) has rapidly advanced and has been applied in different fields. One of the successful AR applications is the immersive and interactive serious games, which can be used for education and learning purposes. Methods In this project, a prototype of an AR serious game is developed and demonstrated. Gamers utilize a head-mounted device and a vibrotactile feedback jacket to explore and interact with the AR serious game. Fourteen vibration actuators are embedded in the vibrotactile feedback jacket to generate immersive AR experience. These vibration actuators are triggered in accordance with the designed game scripts. Various vibration patterns and intensity levels are synthesized in different game scenes. This article presents the details of the entire software development of the AR serious game, including game scripts, game scenes with AR effects design, signal processing flow, behavior design, and communication configuration. Graphics computations are processed using the graphics processing unit in the system. Results /Conclusions The performance of the AR serious game prototype is evaluated and analyzed. The computation loads and resource utilization of normal game scenes and heavy computation scenes are compared. With 14 vibration actuators placed at different body positions, various vibration patterns and intensity levels can be generated by the vibrotactile feedback jacket, providing different real-world feedback. The prototype of this AR serious game can be valuable in building large-scale AR or virtual reality educational and entertainment games. Possible future improvements of the proposed prototype are also discussed in this article.

Moving Mixed Reality Game to the Cloud: A Survey on Feasibility

The purpose of this research is to identify technology-based mixed reality devices used in education. A variety of operating systems such as Windows, Android, and iOS used by the devices are reviewed in this study. It has been revealed that Hololens and HTC Vive are the most widely used devices, particularly in vocational education. Hololens mainly uses virtual reality (mixed reality) with a complete holographic computer. In the meantime, HTC Vive is a set of devices enabling its users to experience virtual reality. It is recommended that industry-driven education utilize those devices so that they are capable of adapting with industrial revolution 4.0.

Identification of technology-based mixed reality devices

New technologies are becoming an essential part of education. Advances in these technologies are changing traditional learning processes, thus affecting students’ motivation and strongly influencing their learning outcomes. Mixed reality (MR) is one of the emerging technologies that may affect students’ learning motivation, with the potential to improve their performance and enhance learning outcomes. Nevertheless, it remains unclear how MR affects students’ motivation to learn. Thus, the aim of this doctoral colloquium is to propose how research may be conducted to evaluate the efficacy and potential of MR technology for motivating dentistry students in higher education. In this research, we design and develop a gamified educational MR application by combining the (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) ADDIE instructional design framework with the (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction) ARCS model for motivational design that is integrated with gamification components, called the ARCS+G model. The MR application is to be used by dentistry students at Umm Al-Qura University in a fundamental implantology course to train them on pre-operative planning using dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). In this setting, we will investigate students’ pretest and posttest learning motivation with the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS). 

Doctoral Colloquium—The Potential of Mixed-Reality Technology for Motivating Dentistry Students in Higher Education

One of the technologies that has been showing possibilities of application in educational environments is the Mixed Reality (MR) comprising of both Augmented Reality(AR) and virtual Reality(VR), in addition to its application to other fields such as tourism, advertising, video games, among others. The primary reason for this research work is to depict and condense trials with production training and education applications utilizing mixed reality gadgets. The entry of new and further developed mobile devices opens up more opportunities for the applications to develop and be circulated. This paper tries to build upon the current state of mixed reality and its application in education. The first segment describes basic structure of mixed reality and its different parts. Following segments give a definitive structure of some experimental applications that were developed for the mixed reality, with the inference taken from the data of experiment done by the National university of Columbia on secondary school students and lastly, the paper shows the benefits of those applications over the traditional teaching methods and the basic user reactions to them.

Mixed Reality in Smart Computing Education System

The design of CMOS circuits employing nanoscale MOSFETs has grown extremely complex in recent years due to new obstacles such as mobility deterioration and short channel effects in device modeling. Gate and channel engineering alleviate these obstacles while improving carrier mobility, leading to better drain current and transconductance. The influence of Channel and Gate engineering techniques on the properties of multi-gate MOS devices is explored and described in this study. This manuscript includes a comprehensive investigation of the effect of metal gate work functions and Graded channel on symmetric double-gate MOS device using two-dimensional simulation tools. The results indicate that the proposed Graded channel and Dual-Metal Gate-Stack DG MOSFET has reduced leakage current and various short channel effects. It shows better analog RF parameters as compared to single metal conventional MOS device.
