Stable and extendable cage containing nanosize silica clusters based on three-membered rings

Abstract: We present a structural model of silica clusters $({\mathrm{SiO}}_{2}{)}_{n},$ based on linked three-membered rings (3MR) of $({\mathrm{SiO}}_{2}{)}_{3}$ units. These structures are energetically more favorable in first-principle calculations at $n=16$ and $ng25$ than corresponding linear chains and molecular rings based on two-membered rings of $({\mathrm{SiO}}_{2}{)}_{2}.$ The 3MR structures contain cage units of larger sizes and have relatively smaller electronic energy gaps, highly localized frontier orbitals at the exterior atoms, a high thermal stability, a low intrinsic internal strain, and a good extendibility to three-dimensional networks. This 3MR-based mesoporous material may find wide applications in nanotechnology.

One- or Semi-Two-Dimensional Organic Nanocrystals Induced by Directional Supramolecular Interactions

TL;DR: In this paper, it was found that increasing the dipole strength could increase the tendency of directional assembly, and introducing an additional dipole component into the molecule, growth in an additional direction could be promoted and lead to the formation of semi-2-D nanostructures.

Phosphorus diffusion in polycrystalline silicon

TL;DR: In this article, a two-dimensional diffusion model is used to find effective grain (Dg) and grain-boundary (Dgb) diffusion coefficients, which leads to Dgb ≤ 10Dg, which is significantly lower than what has been deduced from conventional, larger grained polysilicon.

Hybrid intermediate connector for tandem OLEDs with the combination of MoO3-based interlayer and p-type doping

TL;DR: In this article, a high-quality hybrid intermediate connector (IC) used in tandem organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) is presented, which is composed of an ultrathin MoO 3 interlayer sandwiched between a n-type Cs 2 CO 3 -doped 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BPhen) layer and a p-type MoO3-doped N, N ′-dipsyl-N, N

Ambient effect on the electronic structures of tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum films investigated by photoelectron spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq 3 ) was exposed to trace amounts of O 2, CO 2, H 2 O, or to ambient air.
