Book ChapterDOI

The nucleolar structure.

TL;DR: The nucleusolus is organized at the nucleolus-organizing region of the chromosomes, which are generally visible as secondary constriction regions in metaphase chromosomes, and the chromatin within the constriction region is lost at interphase inside the nucleoli.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cytological identification and characterization of the nuclear matrix.

TL;DR: The presence of a matrix system in the nucleus has been cytologically demonstrated in intact untreated and α-amanitin-treated HeLa and rat kangaroo cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Orientation of interphase chromosomes as detected by Giemsa C-bands.

TL;DR: Observations in A. cepa and Aloe indicate clearly that the interphase chromosomes are non-random in their orientation and possibly maintain their telophase configuration through the attachment of telomeres and perhaps of kinetochores with the nuclear membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Failure of kinetochore development and mitotic spindle formation in okadaic acid-induced premature mitosis in HeLa cells.

TL;DR: In S-phase PCC in multinucleate cells, only the mitotic spindle does not develop, whereas in caffeine-induced PCC, all these events are found to be associated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Okadaic acid inhibits sister chromatid separation in mammalian cells.

TL;DR: Recovery experiments in okadaic acid-free medium showed formation of diplochromosomes, indicating a failure of sister chromatid separation in the treated mitotic cells, and the universality of the phosphatase 1 requirement in sister chrom atid separation is discussed.
