Journal ArticleDOI
Shear wave elastography in the evaluation of renal parenchymal stiffness in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Sook Sam Leong,Jeannie Hsiu Ding Wong,Mohammad Nazri Md Shah,Anushya Vijayananthan,Maisarah Jalalonmuhali,Kwan Hoong Ng +5 more
TL;DR: SWE was superior to renal length and cortical thickness in detecting CKD and showed good accuracy in determining whether a kidney was diseased or not, and on SWE, CKD patients show greater renal parenchymal stiffness than non-CKD patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stiffness and Anisotropy Effect on Shear Wave Elastography: A Phantom and in Vivo Renal Study.
Sook Sam Leong,Jeannie Hsiu Ding Wong,Mohammad Nazri Md Shah,Anushya Vijayananthan,Maisarah Jalalonmuhali,Nur Hidayati Mohd Sharif,Nurul Khairyah Abas,Kwan Hoong Ng +7 more
TL;DR: Tissue stiffness and anisotropy affects SWE measurements and these factors should be recognized before applying SWE for the interpretation of measured values.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shear wave elastography accurately detects chronic changes in renal histopathology
Sook Sam Leong,Jeannie Hsiu Ding Wong,Mohammad Nazri Md Shah,Anushya Vijayananthan,Maisarah Jalalonmuhali,Tak Kuan Chow,Nur Hidayati Mohd Sharif,Kwan Hoong Ng +7 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between kidney stiffness obtained by shear wave elastography (SWE) and renal histological fibrosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Novel Algorithm for Breast Lesion Detection Using Textons and Local Configuration Pattern Features with Ultrasound Imagery
U. Rajendra Acharya,Kristen M. Meiburger,Joel En Wei Koh,Edward J. Ciaccio,N. Arunkumar,Mee Hoong See,Nur Aishah Taib,Anushya Vijayananthan,Kartini Rahmat,Farhana Fadzli,Sook Sam Leong,Caroline Judy Westerhout,Ángela Chantre-Astaiza,Gustavo Ramirez-Gonzalez +13 more
TL;DR: A novel method for the detection of breast lesions in ultrasound images using texton filter banks, local configuration pattern features, and classification, without employing any segmentation technique is presented, able to accurately detect and classify breast lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of Nonlinear Features for Automated Characterization of Suspicious Ovarian Tumors Using Ultrasound Images in Fuzzy Forest Framework
U. Rajendra Acharya,U. Rajendra Acharya,Ayesha Akter,Pradeep Chowriappa,Sumeet Dua,U. Raghavendra,Joel E.W. Koh,Jen Hong Tan,Sook Sam Leong,Anushya Vijayananthan,Yuki Hagiwara,Marlina Tanty Ramli,Kwan Hoong Ng +12 more
TL;DR: The proposed CAD tool to characterize suspicious ovarian cancer using Radon-transformed nonlinear features is robust and reproducible as it uses maximum number subjects as compared to state-of-the-art techniques, and can be used as an assisting tool by gynecologists during their routine screening.
