Journal ArticleDOI

Mycorrhizal colonisation and P-supplement effects on N uptake and N assimilation in perennial ryegrass under well-watered and drought-stressed conditions

TL;DR: The results indicate that the AM symbiosis plays an integrative role in N nutrition by alleviating the negative impacts of drought on N or P uptake and N assimilation, whereas the efficiency of a direct P supplement is very limited under drought-stressed conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silicon alleviates salt stress by modulating antioxidant enzyme activities in Dianthus caryophyllus ‘Tula’

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the role of silicon on the in vitro growth and resistance to salt stress of Dianthus caryophyllus ‘Tula’ in a factorial design with 0, 50, or 100 mg·L−1 of potassium silicate (K2SiO3) in combination with NaCl.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silicon in Horticultural Crops: Cross-talk, Signaling, and Tolerance Mechanism under Salinity Stress.

TL;DR: The present review article summarized the potential role of Si in mitigating salinity stress in horticultural crops and possible mechanism of Si-associated improvements in them, and scrutinizes the need of future research to evaluate the role ofSi and gaps to saline stress for their improvement.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mycorrhizal colonization alleviates drought-induced oxidative damage and lignification in the leaves of drought-stressed perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne).

TL;DR: Results indicate that AM symbiosis plays an integrative role in drought stress tolerance by alleviating oxidative damage and lignification, which in turn mitigate the reduction of forage growth and digestibility under DS conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fe modulates Cd-induced oxidative stress and the expression of stress responsive proteins in the nodules of Vigna radiata

TL;DR: Investigation of root nodules of Vigna radiata indicates that Fe plays a pivotal role in alleviating Cd-stress, as evidence by reduction in oxidative damage and protection of cell wall and bacteriods in nodules.
